Sunday Recap

Arsenal put on a largely dominant performance at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to beat City 2-0 and move to within a point of the top four in the Premier League, condemning the Sky Blues to their first defeat in 13 games.
Santi Cazorla got the opener for Arsenal in a controlled first-half performance from the Gunners, the Spaniard firing home a terrific penalty after Vincent Kompany brought down Nacho Monreal in the box.
Manuel Pellegrini made a change at half time, replacing James Milner with Stevan Jovetic, and it proved immediately effective as the Sky Blues took control after the break.
However, the Gunners regained their composure and eventually doubled their lead when Olivier Giroud headed home a Cazorla free-kick after losing marker Fernando.
It was not the Brazilian's best game for City, per The Telegraph's Paul Hayward, with Mark Ogden, also of The Telegraph, pointing to the absence of Yaya Toure as a significant factor:
While City were not at their best, Arsenal deserve huge credit for finally toppling one of the bigger sides away from home.
West Ham scored three second-half goals to condemn Hull City to a 3-0 defeat at Upton Park and pile further pressure on Steve Bruce’s relegation-threatened side.

The visitors had the better of the first half but could not claim an opening goal and Andy Carroll’s strike just after the break—the forward jabbing in Enner Valencia’s parried shot—handed the Irons the initiative.
Morgan Amalfitano doubled the hosts’ lead with a deft finish over the goalkeeper before Stewart Downing completed a convincing win, West Ham’s first victory in five league games.
Hull have now lost three games on the bounce and remain in the relegation zone with Bruce’s position as manager potentially in jeopardy, per WhoScored.com’s Ben McAleer:
The Tigers desperately need a victory soon and will have an opportunity at home against an out of form Newcastle next time out.
Saturday Recap

Diego Costa and Oscar both bagged first-half doubles against Swansea with Andre Schurrle completing the 5-0 rout late on.
Oscar opened the scoring inside a minute and Costa's two goals put the game out of sight, the final two simply confirming Chelsea's total dominance.
Swansea were poor and have now failed to win in each of their last four matches, but the Blues themselves were excellent, and hailed as much by their manager, per the club's Twitter feed:
United were abject in their first half at Loftus Road and were lucky to go into the break at 0-0 after David de Gea had been forced into some fine saves.
However, a Louis van Gaal half-time switch—Marouane Fellaini for Juan Mata which saw a formation change to 4-4-2—paid dividends as the towering Belgian fired viciously home for the opener just before the hour.

It was not plain sailing in the second half for the Red Devils, the hosts pushing well at times for the equaliser, but 19-year-old James Wilson eventually took advantage of QPR's pressing, tucking home a rebound of his own shot from a counter attack in stoppage time.
Spurs claimed yet another 2-1 win with a late winner at home to Sunderland, Christian Eriksen's 88th minute strike proving the difference after Sebastian Larsson had cancelled out Jan Vertonghen's opener in the first half.
Jermain Defoe could not punish his old club on his Black Cats debut and Eriksen's winner completed a familiar winning scoreline for Mauricio Pochettino's men, per Squawka:
Southampton's stunning season continued as they visited St James' Park for Saturday's late kick-off and came away with a 2-1 win, leapfrogging United back into third after the Red Devils had held the spot for a few hours.
New signing Eljero Elia claimed both goals for the visitors, the winner coming just after the hour following his first being cancelled out by a freak first-half effort from Yoan Gouffran, per The Times' George Caulkin:
Ronald Koeman's men were worthy winners—although they were hanging on somewhat by the end—and a Champions League spot come the season's end looks an increasingly realistic target for Saints.
The same could be said for Liverpool who moved up into seventh in the table after beating Aston Villa 2-0 away from home, the Reds now sit just a point behind Arsenal.
Brendan Rodgers deployed Emre Can, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel in an effective three-man defence and Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert bagged the goals, the latter's a fine low strike from the edge of the box after a deft touch to take it away from the defender.

A 3-2 home loss for Burnley to Crystal Palace and a 1-0 defeat for Leicester by Stoke at the King Power Stadium completed the results on a Saturday remarkable for seeing six away victories.
Spurs were the only hosts to claim any points and loss for the Foxes sees them remain at the bottom of the table, while Burnley are just above the relegation zone in 17th.
Back-to-back wins for Alan Pardew at Palace has moved the Eagles up into 12th and how Newcastle must be pining for the form of their former manager, the Magpies having won just one of their last seven.
