Weather:  AccuWeather.com forecasts a cool day in Johannesburg with the chance of a shower. Rain is common in Joburg this time of the year, but it normally doesn't last long enough to wash out an entire day.

Overview

The last time these two teams met at the Wanderers, records toppled left, right and centre. Although the format might have changed, the Wanderers still has a reputation for being an epic ODI venue.

After winning the first match in the five-match series, South Africa definitely have the momentum. Disciplined bowling was the difference for the Proteas with their attack looking steady for the first time in a long time.

Vernon Philander's line and length approach saw him bag three wickets. Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn's aggression supported him well and backed up by the spin duo of Imran Tahir and JP Duminy, South Africa managed to bundle the Windies out for 164.

A few areas of concern still remain for South Africa, though. Rilee Rossouw scored yet another duck in international cricket, while Farhaan Behardien continues to be a frustrating player. Although David Miller hit an impressive 70 off 68, he gave his wicket away far too easily instead of sticking around and batting out the innings.

Luckily, this is exactly the reason why this ODI series has been organised. South Africa and the West Indies are using this platform to get their players into form.

The only intriguing aspect on Friday night was the fact that Morne van Wyk did not play for South Africa. Although he is not in the World Cup squad, he is the back-up wicketkeeper and remains on standby should Quinton de Kock not recover in time. South Africa insist their boy wonder is on track to make a comeback before the tournament, but the pressure on AB de Villiers of batting, keeping wicket and captaining the team is immense. At some stage, they might be tempted to give him a break, although clearly the first priority is to win the series.

The ball will travel further and faster at the Wanderers and with the batting talent both teams have on display, it should be a high-scoring and entertaining match, provided the thunderstorms stay away.

Key players

South Africa

Imran Tahir continues to impress in the limited-overs format and his ability to bog down the scoring rate will be crucial at a ground like the Wanderers. If he can keep calm and use his variations, he will be a key part in helping South Africa restrict the West Indies to a modest total.

West Indies

Jerome Taylor has improved as the series has gone on and in the first ODI he was one of the West Indies’ best bowlers. If he can use the extra pace and bounce the Wanderers deck is likely to offer, he could create quite a few problems for South Africa’s top order.

Squads

South Africa

AB de Villiers (capt), Hashim Amla, Kyle Abbott, Farhaan Behardien, Morne van Wyk (wk), JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Aaron Phangiso, Vernon Philander, Rilee Rossouw, Dale Steyn
