Florida State Football: Seminoles' Top Remaining Recruiting Targets for NSD 2015
National signing day 2015 is right around the corner, and Florida State's coaches are on the road and hosting official visitors on campus in an effort to finish off an already strong recruiting class with a bang.
FSU is heavily in the mix with several 5- and 4-star uncommitted prospects with only a few more spots to fill. Let's take a look at five of the top remaining targets on the Seminoles' board.
Byron Cowart
1 of 5
The top uncommitted defensive player in the country, Byron Cowart is the No. 1 strong-side defensive end in the 2015 class, according to 247Sports.
FSU is battling Florida and Auburn for Cowart's services, but the Seminoles may have the advantage by having the last crack at the 5-star pass-rusher. Cowart will officially visit the Tigers Jan. 16 and the Gators Jan. 23, but he heads to Tallahassee Jan. 30 on the last recruiting weekend before signing day.
With Mario Edwards Jr.'s early exit to the NFL, Cowart fills an immediate need for the 'Noles should he ultimately pledge his services to the garnet and gold.
Terry Beckner Jr.

Eddie Goldman is off to the NFL a year early, so Florida State could use another big-bodied defensive tackle to plug into the middle of its defensive line. Terry Beckner Jr. meets that criteria, as the 5-star prospect is a top-five player nationally at the position.
The East St. Louis, Illinois, native took an official visit to FSU Nov. 28 and has trips to Auburn, Ohio State and Missouri lined up over the next three weeks, so it's going to be tough for the 'Noles to bring the big man to Tallahassee.
Lorenzo Phillips
3 of 5
Lorenzo Phillips is a new name on the FSU radar, although the Seminoles' coaching staff has been well aware of the talented linebacker's ability ever since he signed with LSU a few years ago.
Phillips is considered the nation's top junior college outside linebacker, and the Seminoles have a need for a player of his caliber who can step in and play right away after the decision by rising junior E.J. Levenberry to transfer.
News broke this week that Phillips will take a visit to Tallahassee Jan. 23, according to Josh Newberg of 247Sports (subscription required), so the Seminoles just may be the new favorites to land the 4-star prospect.
Iman Marshall
4 of 5
Florida State already has Tarvarus McFadden committed, but the 'Noles are hoping to pair him with another 5-star cornerback in Iman Marshall.
The nation's No. 1 overall cornerback prospect will visit Florida State the weekend of Jan. 16. Can the Seminoles persuade the California native to move across the country to play college ball? Head coach Jimbo Fisher and his staff will certainly do their best to make that happen by rolling out the red carpet this weekend.
Shelton Johnson
5 of 5
FSU doesn't have much depth at defensive end, and Shelton Johnson would be a nice piece to the puzzle for position coach Sal Sunseri.
Linebackers coach Bill Miller visited with Johnson this week, according to Chris Nee of 247Sports (subscription required), as the Seminoles would like to bring in another pass-rusher to help ease the loss of Mario Edwards Jr. to the NFL.
Johnson is slated for official visits to Michigan and Miami over the next two weeks before taking a trip to Tallahassee Jan. 30.
