5 Players to Watch for the Remainder of the Bundesliga Season
Most may not consider the Bundesliga to the be the very best league in European football right now, but few could argue with the manner in which the German top division harbours youth talent and produces some truly fascinating situations.
From Bayern Munich to Freiburg, Schalke to Hamburg, each of the 18 teams in this league have at least one young or exciting player playing within their ranks who is worthy of our praise and interest for the remainder of this league campaign.
Unfortunately we can only pick five today. So sit back, relax and take note as we take you through the top five players to keep an eye on between now and May in the German Bundesliga. For each shall undoubtedly dictate how their side will perform over the rest of the season.
Karim Bellarabi
1 of 5
Our first player is one that almost every Bundesliga fan must know by now. Bayer Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi, one of the most in-form German players across the top division this season and undoubtedly a game-changer for the Factory Squad this season.
The manner of Bellarabi's rise from Eintracht Braunschweig down-and-out to Leverkusen star has been truly meteoric and goes to show just what a player in this division can accomplish with a little bit of luck.
This German international just keeps getting better and better, and we expect an even bigger year in 2015 from him.
Baba Rahman
2 of 5
One of the stand-out performers in this season's Bundesliga campaign has, in fact, also been one of its brightest summer transfers in the form of Augsburg's new left-back, Baba Rahman.
The German top flight is no stranger to bright, exciting left-sided full-backs, but the manner in which this Ghanaian defender has taken to life under manager Markus Weinzierl is exceptional.
Move over, David Alaba, Juan Bernat and Ricardo Rodriguez, there's a new left-back in town. And we can't wait to watch more of him when the league restarts.
Haris Seferovic
3 of 5
According to Transfermarkt, Eintracht Frankfurt centre-forward Haris Seferovic has managed to bag eight goals and five assists so far this season.
What makes this all the more impressive is that this German current campaign is the first in which the 22-year-old striker has taken part in. Seferovic has truly hit the ground running in the Bundesliga since signing from Spanish side Real Sociedad.
Should he keep up this record of goals and assists, we may be looking at a clear front-runner for the signing-of-the-season award in May.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
4 of 5
Henrikh Mkhitaryan hasn't scored a single goal in the Bundesliga this season. Let us just sit and think about that for a second.
As the most expensive signing in Borussia Dortmund's history, the Armenian international has gone from a breakthrough first season at the Westfalenstadion to something of a bumbling mess. And Jurgen Klopp's side have felt the consequences.
If Dortmund are to turn their season around in the second half of this campaign, they'll need this attacking midfielder back to his best in front of goal and once again winning games for the former German champions.
Christoph Kramer
5 of 5
Finally, we come to Borussia Moenchengladbach central midfielder Christoph Kramer; one of the Foals' most impressive performers this season and arguably the Bundesliga's next big star.
Many will still remember the baby-faced defensive anchor as the man who had to come off in the World Cup final after just a few minutes on the pitch, yet the 23-year-old has got back to winning ways with Gladbach as Lucien Favre's side push for a Champions League place.
What will make the next six months so interesting for the German international is the fact that after this season he will return to his parent club, Bayer Leverkusen, and undoubtedly become a key player.
A club who just happen to be one of the key competitors with Gladbach for that third- or fourth-placed spot come May.
Whether the young star can keep focused and help his current club reach the Champions League at his future side's expense is something we'll be monitoring with the utmost fascination.
