Lionel Messi Throws His Barcelona Future into Doubt

1 of 2

So, even Lionel Messi doesn't know if he's leaving Barcelona.

Just 24 hours after denying a move to Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain, Messi has declared he's unsure if he'll be at the Nou Camp come 2015/16.

Speaking ahead of the Ballon d'Or ceremony, Messi said, per the London Evening Standard:

"

I'm not sure where I'll be next year. In the football world so many things can change overnight.

I’m not sure what's going to happen, whether I'd go to Newell's [Old Boys]. I don't know where I'll be next year.

I've always said I want to end my career at Barcelona but, as Cristiano [Ronaldo] said, nobody knows what the future holds.

"

Messi has been strongly linked with joining Chelsea for £200 million and told Barcelona's in-house TV channel this weekend that he would not be leaving the club.

"I don't demand anything for me to stay because I have no intention of leaving anywhere," he told Barca TV.

That seemed to end the transfer talk, but now Messi has added fuel to the fire with his latest comments.

Chelsea Set to Offload Schurrle to Fund Reus Deal

2 of 2

Chelsea will sell out-of-favour Andre Schurrle to Wolfsburg for £23 million and use the funds to bring Marco Reus to Stamford Bridge.

That's according to Alex Harris of the Daily Star, who reports Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing Borussia Dortmund's attacker to Stamford Bridge to strengthen his team.

Reus will be available for as little as £20 million, and Mourinho has told Roman Abramovich that he is his No. 1 transfer target.

Schurrle, meanwhile, was missing from the Chelsea team for Saturday's 2-0 defeat of Newcastle United, and his poor form continues.
