Football fans have been treated to an entertaining postseason through the Wild Card Round, but the 2015 NFL playoff schedule heats up Saturday with a marquee battle in both the AFC and the NFC Divisional Round.

While most fans are focused on the AFC battle between the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots, the NFC showdown between the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers will be just as enthralling.

Team With the Most to Lose Saturday

Every franchise remaining in the postseason has plenty to lose in its respective divisional-round matchup, but few have as much on the line as the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

Seattle comes into the matchup as arguably the hottest team in the NFL, winning nine of the team’s 10 final games and allowing only 39 combined points over the last six games. The Seahawks defense finished the season first against the pass (allowing just 185.6 yards per game) and third against the run (allowing just 81.5 yards per game).

Add in the fact that Seattle also managed to finish the season ranked No. 1 in the NFL in rushing yards per game with 172.6, and there are many fans and experts picking the Seahawks to return to the Super Bowl and repeat as champions.

Everything has been going well for Seattle, but as legendary quarterback Warren Moon told Elizabeth Merrill of ESPN.com, all that glitters is not gold:

This is a young football team, the youngest team to ever win a Super Bowl. I think they really had a problem with a lot of the guys as far as [how] they handled the prosperity, how they handled all the endorsements and the attention they got.

Some guys got paid very big in the offseason; other guys probably thought they wanted to get paid. All those things started to creep in. Guys started playing not for one another but playing for themselves.

Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports talked about the confidence Carolina possesses despite the tough matchup:

There is no question that Seattle has the experience and talent to win Saturday’s game, but Carolina will not go down without a fight. After winning four straight games to get into the playoffs, the Panthers utterly dominated the Arizona Cardinals during the Wild Card Round in every facet of the game.

The Seahawks are a hard-nosed team that will run right at Carolina. If there is a weakness in the Panthers’ game plan, Pete Carroll and the Seattle coaching staff will make the proper adjustments to take advantage.

On the other hand, a loss to Carolina would be devastating to a franchise that has been a legitimate Super Bowl contender for several months. The Seahawks simply can't afford to lose.
