Tottenham Transfer News: Stunning Hugo Lloris Exit Rumours Emerge
Tottenham Hotspur are ready to cash in on arguably their top player of the past two seasons if the latest rumours are to be believed, as star goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has reportedly been given permission to leave the club in the summer.
According to The Sun's Mike McGrath (subscription required), the 28-year-old will be allowed to seek out a Champions League club regardless of Spurs' success in qualifying for Europe's top international competition:
"The French No 1 will be allowed to leave for a Champions League club in the summer — even if Spurs seal a top-four spot of their own.
Lloris, 28, is in his third season at White Hart Lane but the club are willing to cash in at the end of this campaign.
Spurs will make a huge profit on the initial £8m they paid Lyon 2½ years ago.

Paris Saint-Germain want to bring Lloris back to France while Real Madrid are looking for a successor to Iker Casillas.

The France international joined Tottenham from Olympique Lyon in 2012 and overcame a difficult start in the Premier League to establish himself as one of the top goalkeepers in world football.
Lloris has been pivotal during the 2014-15 campaign and put all of his class on display in Spurs' wild 5-3 win over Chelsea on New Year's Day, prompting this tweet from KICKTV:
The reported interest from Paris-Saint Germain and Real Madrid shouldn't come as a big surprise. The Frenchman is an experienced, veteran stopper who won't turn 29 until the end of the year, and he could provide potential suitors with at least five or six more years of top-level performances.
McGrath's report doesn't necessarily mean Lloris already has one foot out of the door, but given his fantastic form in the past six months and the club's inability to take the next step and join England's elite, it shouldn't be ruled out, either.
The Tactics Room believes the French stopper deserves to move on to a bigger club for his consistent performances behind a defence that often fails to live up to his standards:
Tottenham haven't had the greatest start to the 2014-15 campaign and currently sit outside the Champions League spots in the Premier League table, but a strong run of results in recent weeks is cause for optimism. Lloris told Sky Sports (via Fox Sports) he believes the squad is getting stronger with every passing week:
"We are getting better and better every game.
Defensively, when you get a run of games it's easier for everyone. We start to understand and to know what the manager wants, what he is expecting every game.
It's important to be strong, to not concede goals, not concede chances.
But it's not enough to win games. You need to score and to do more offensively.
"
Whether that will be enough to keep France's longtime starter at White Hart Lane remains to be seen, however. The lure of Real Madrid and PSG is a strong one, with Les Parisiens in particular strong candidates to land Lloris.
Current starter Salvatore Sirigu hasn't been his usual, reliable self in 2014-15, emphasised by this awful blunder that gifted Lille a draw back in December:
Sirigu is a very good goalkeeper, but Lloris is a world-class option that happens to start for the French national team as well. Les Parisiens would love nothing more than to add the 28-year-old to their ranks, and it now looks as if they'll have the chance to do just that during the summer.
Spurs fans would hate to see their star stopper leave the club, but after three years of loyal service and little to show for it in terms of silverware, a split may be inevitable. At the very least, Tottenham will earn a pretty penny on their initial investment of just £8 million.
