NFL Playoffs 2015: Super Bowl Odds and Picks for Postseason Matchups

Brian MaziqueJan 1, 2015

With a dominant finish to the season, the Seattle Seahawks have solidified their spot as the favorites to win Super Bowl XLIX, per Odds Shark.

The Seahawks streaked to the No, 1 seed in the NFC by winning their last six games. Seattle's defense has allowed an average of 6.5 points per game during the streak. The rushing offense is tops in the league, and quarterback Russell Wilson is showing the poise and ability to keep plays alive to find receivers downfield when he needs to.

Seattle looks like a juggernaut right now. Here's a complete list of the Super Bowl odds heading into Wild Card Weekend.

Speaking of Wild Card Weekend, here's a look at predictions for all of the weekend's games.

Dallas Will Bounce Detroit

Ndamukong Suh wound up winning his appeal of a suspension for stomping on the leg of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Suh's inclusion in the game helps the Lions' cause, but not enough.

Dallas' offense is too versatile for Detroit. It features the NFL's leading rusher in DeMarco Murray and a leading MVP candidate in Tony Romo at quarterback. ESPN Dallas' Calvin Watkins delivers the corrected statistic that gives Romo credit for having the league's best quarterback rating.

Wide receiver Dez Bryant has been a handful all season, and tight end Jason Witten is still a dependable underneath target.

Green Bay proved last week that the Lions' vaunted run defense was not impenetrable. The Packers ran it 38 times for 152 yards against Detroit, and the charge was led by Eddie Lacy's 100 yards on 26 carries.

Seeing that has to make Murray's eyes and the eyes of his nasty offensive linemen light up. Dallas will pound Detroit with the run game and take shots downfield to Bryant to make the requisite plays on offense.

The vastly improved Cowboys defense will keep pressure on a wilting Matthew Stafford, and Detroit's stay in the postseason will be a short one.

Ryan Lindley Can't Lead Arizona to Victory

The Arizona Cardinals' third-string quarterback, Ryan Lindley, deserves an "A" for effort, but he simply hasn't shown that he's good enough to lead the team to a postseason victory.

Lindley was praised after Week 17 for throwing the first two touchdown passes of his career. However, he's thrown 264 passes. The scores were cause for celebration, but Lindley still threw three picks in the game as well.

That gives him two career touchdown passes and 11 interceptions.

This is not an encouraging line if you're a Cardinals fan. Lindley is leading his team on the road against a hot Carolina Panthers team that won its last four games. Quite honestly, Lindley is in over his head. Arizona will lose this game because it doesn't have a quarterback capable of succeeding in this situation.

With or Without Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Wins

After suffering a hyperextended knee in the regular-season finale, Le'Veon Bell's status for the Wild Card Round against the Baltimore Ravens in unknown. Per Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL.com, who quoted a Steelers source, the prognosis looked bad early in the week.

In the land of mixed football messages, Bell spoke directly with Kinkhabwala and painted a different picture on Wednesday.

Who knows? We'll likely find out much closer to the game.

While losing Bell would be a significant blow, the Steelers have the depth to overcome it. Josh Harris has looked good in spots as Bell's backup. He had a 47-yard run called back due to holding against the Bengals on Sunday night. He generally shows good burst and vision when given opportunities.

Dri Archer is a dynamic speedster who could be a weapon out of the backfield as a receiver or on reverses. With Harris and Archer, there's a good bit of skill to utilize. To back that up, the Steelers just signed veteran running back Ben Tate, per the team's Twitter account.

That acquisition adds even more depth. None of those guys are Bell, but with the way quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and receiver Antonio Brown are playing, it could be enough. Roethlisberger and Brown have been in tune all season, and that's the reason Brown led the league in receptions and yards.

The Ravens will get back Haloti Ngata after his suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Per Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun, Ngata talked about his mistake and being ready to get back on the field.

"I did make a mistake," Ngata said. "I'm glad the team was able to get us in the playoffs, and hopefully I can help them with this playoff run. I'm just excited and thankful the team was able to get us into the playoffs so I can play again."

The Ravens will be happy to have their stud defensive lineman in action, but he won't be enough to curtail the Steelers attack. There's a rhythm currently from quarterback to offensive line and down to the skills positions in Pittsburgh. Not many teams will be able to stop this attack.

On the other side of the ball, the patchwork secondary from the Steelers has played extremely well late in the season. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has stumbled a bit down the stretch. In Week 16, when the Ravens still had a chance to win the division, Flacco completed just 42 percent of his passes and was picked off three times.

He played better in the Week 17 win over the Cleveland Browns, but my confidence is not high that he'll put together a strong effort in this one. Look for the Steelers to come away victorious over their rivals with a comfortable victory.

Andy Dalton Won't Win the Big One

With Andy Dalton under center, the Cincinnati Bengals have never won a playoff game. Dalton's record in the postseason is 0-3, and he's thrown one touchdown pass and six interceptions.

Heading into a road game against the Indianapolis Colts and young star quarterback Andrew Luck, things don't look great for Dalton. Obviously, this is another tough road playoff game, which Dalton has yet to fair well in.

Also, there's a chance he could be without wide receiver A.J. Green. The latter suffered a concussion, per Pro Football Talk, after a hit in the team's Week 17 loss to the Steelers.

This would be a tough task even with Green. If they don't have him, the Bengals' chances of winning take a significant nose dive.

The Colts will win as the Bengals struggle to score enough points to keep pace with Indy on the road.
