Midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's groin injury, which kept him out of Arsenal's FA Cup win over Brighton & Hove Albion, is set to keep him sidelined for another couple of weeks, according to manager Arsene Wenger.
Wenger believed his improving player would still miss additional fixtures, as highlighted by the club's official Twitter account:
The 21-year-old England international suffered from a series of knee ailments last year but came into the 2014/15 campaign healthy, and it showed on the pitch, as he has gradually become one of the Gunners' most consistent performers.
His strong displays have been sorely needed, as Arsenal's injury problems have continued to stack up. According to Eurosport.com, the club suffered 25 injuries between the start of the season and Christmas—a staggering number:
Just a handful of players were able to build some form, including Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was proving to fans all over the country that the hype surrounding his quick ascension was matched by his abilities.
Wenger will now have to look for an alternative out wide, and it won't be easy to find someone who can replicate the Ox's blend of raw power, athleticism and work ethic on the pitch.
