EPL Results Week 19: Premier League Scores, Top Scorers and 2014 Table Tracker
Second-placed Manchester City failed to close the gap on table-topping Chelsea on Sunday. City squandered a 2-0 lead against Burnley to draw 2-2 after the Blues had shared the spoils with Southampton earlier in the day.
Manuel Pellegrini's men should have picked up all three points at home to the 19th-placed Clarets, but an excellent second-half performance from Sean Dyche's men reaped a much-deserved draw.
Manchester United also failed to win, drawing 0-0 with Spurs—on a day of three goalless draws in the Premier League—while Arsenal took advantage of dropped points all around them in the league by winning 2-1 away at West Ham.

Monday Update

Liverpool had one of their best showings of the season on Monday night, beating Swansea 4-1 at Anfield.
Reds left wing-back Alberto Moreno opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, cutting inside from the left wing to get on the end of a cross from Jordan Henderson. Lukasz Fabianski got a touch to the shot, but Moreno put enough power on the shot that it didn't matter.
Adam Lallana doubled Liverpool's lead in the 51st minute with one of the crazier goals you'll see all season. Fabianski received a back pass and was preparing to knock the ball up the pitch. However, he waited too long, and the ball deflected into the goal off an on-rushing Lallana.
Gylfi Sigurdsson halved the deficit a minute later, but Lallana made it a two-goal game once again, scoring in the 61st minute. Jonjo Shelvey headed a Henderson corner into his own net in the 69th minute, wrapping up what was a frustrating day for the Swans.
After the match, Lallana talked about how big these three points are for Liverpool, per the Premier League:
Sunday Update

Arsenal continued their quest for a Champions League spot when they beat West Ham 2-1 at Upton Park on Sunday to move up to fifth, tied on points with fourth-placed Southampton.
Despite an inconsistent start to the season, the Gunners must surely be favourites over those around them—Saints, West Ham and Swansea—to take the fourth spot, as they always do, or perhaps catch United in third.
Arsenal netted from Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck—their fourth league goals of the season—two players whose contributions Arsene Wenger will be delighted to see increase. The Gunners cannot continue to rely on their top scorer, Alexis Sanchez.
For City, it was David Silva who once again got the ball rolling at the Etihad, the Spaniard continuing a goalscoring streak that has deadened the blow of their lack of strikers, per Squawka:
However, City could no doubt have done with the injured Sergio Aguero on Sunday. Despite Fernandinho's effort making it 2-0, George Boyd and Ashley Barnes' strikes made it 2-2 in the second half, Manuel Pellegrini's men having failed to put the game to bed.
Chelsea were also held to a draw—1-1 at St Mary's—despite their array of attacking talent. Eden Hazard cancelled out Sadio Mane's opener just before half-time, and the Blues were dominant after the break, but Ronald Koeman's men defended well for a point.
United also suffered from a lack of clinical finishing. Juan Mata, Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and Ashley Young all got close in the first half but failed to break the deadlock, per ESPN's Michael Caley:
"All kinds of danger zone chances for United in the first half, but for once they're not finishing at a superhuman rate.
— Michael Caley (@MC_of_A) December 28, 2014"
Louis van Gaal's men were left to rue their misses. They seemed to tire in the second half, and United could only claim a point on a day when they could have closed the gap to City and Chelsea.
Of the league's top scorers, only Papiss Cisse added to his tally, scoring Newcastle's first as Alan Pardew's men turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-2 victory over Everton, condemning the Toffees to a third consecutive defeat. Roberto Martinez's men continued to look weak in defence, per Opta:
Charlie Austin failed to add to his 12 goals for the season. Harry Redknapp's men played out a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace at Loftus Road, and it was the same result for Sunderland at Villa Park.
Leicester stay rooted to the bottom of the league, three points from safety, but they did claim a first win in 14 matches with a victory away to Hull, while Stoke's impressive term continued with a 2-0 win over West Brom.
Swansea travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Monday to complete Week 19 of the Premier League and bring the 2014-15 season to its halfway point.
