Manchester United Transfer News: Wesley Sneijder Fee Named, David De Gea Latest
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal could make further use of his Dutch links this winter after discovering the price tag of Wesley Sneijder, while the club is reportedly "relaxed" regarding David de Gea's future.
Sneijder is said to be eyeing up the Galatasaray exit door, says the Daily Mail's Sami Mokbel, who adds the Turkish giants would accept an offer of £9 million in order to ease their debt concerns.

Sneijder earns £2.5 million a year in Istanbul, but the report goes on to note that Gala's financial woes have led to late payments on more than one occasion.
Back in September, Sneijder sounded receptive to speculation of a reunion with former Netherlands coach Van Gaal but said the move wasn't on the cards, per David Anderson of the Mirror:
"It's great to hear that van Gaal is interested in me, he is a footballing genius. However, I doubt Manchester United could tempt me to leave Galatasaray right now, I don't see it happening.
Everything is going well for me in Istanbul and I have settled into life in Turkey and feel at home. I don't even know why we keep talking about this. Galatasaray will not be letting me go for a cheap price. It is very unlikely that any deal will happen.
"
It would appear the stakes have now changed, though, following revelations regarding Gala's need for funds, with Southampton also understood to be in pursuit of the 30-year-old's signature.
Sneijder holds another managerial link at St. Mary's having worked under Ronald Koeman for two-and-a-half seasons at Ajax. Koeman may hold an advantage in the hunt, too, with FourFourTwo's Dutch specialist Elko Born suggesting that Van Gaal and Sneijder have a frosty relationship:
The Red Devils chief already has a mass of creative talent at his disposal, to the point where the likes of summer signing Ander Herrera and Adnan Januzaj have struggled to feature recently.
This has led to rumours that Januzaj could leave the club on loan in January, but Kristof Terreur of Het Laatste Nieuws says it won't be to Ajax:
Gala's situation could make for a very unique opportunity in the race to add more playmaking depth, however, a cut-price fee that's well within United's range.
The club is also upbeat about the prospect of holding on to in-demand goalkeeper De Gea, with BBC Sport citing a Manchester United source saying the signs on his future are encouraging:
"United have not said if contract talks have begun, although it would be normal practice as the deal is about to enter its final 18 months. Senior club sources say they are "relaxed" about the future of a player that captain Wayne Rooney feels is "the best keeper in the world".
De Gea, an £18.9m arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011, was outstanding in Sunday's 3-0 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford.
"
United's injury anguish in defence has led to an increased burden on De Gea to perform for his side this season, a challenge he's responded to well.
In the wake of Sunday's win over Liverpool, Sky Sports pundit and former Red Devil Gary Neville dissected how the Spaniard's game has come along since his switch from Atletico Madrid:
One could certainly argue that the Spaniard's displays in goal have single-handedly won his side points of late, making crucial blocks against Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal and Southampton in particular.
This has led club captain Wayne Rooney to hail the efforts of his team-mate, per the BBC Sport report:
"David is important for us. His performances have been fantastic. To play in goal at Manchester United at 20 is difficult. We knew it might take time. But he worked on his game and it shows.
He is not as tall as some other keepers, but his spring and reach is really long. He is also more vocal now. Edwin van der Sar had the best years of his career with us when he was in his late 30s, so David has got a great future ahead of him.
"
As Metro reports, Van Gaal's side has a struggle on its hands in convincing the goalkeeper to reject any chance of a return to the Spanish capital, this time with Real Madrid:
However, with morale among the Red Devils' squad seemingly improving with every result, the stopper may indeed grow increasingly confident of any title prospects soon to come in his current surroundings.
De Gea's extension will undoubtedly be one of the club's biggest priorities as they go about securing the long-term services of a player whose value is only on the rise.
