Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported the expected recovery time for Foles:

Will Carroll of Bleacher Report weighed in on Foles' injury and recovery:

Foles, 25, suffered the injury on aย Whitney Mercilus sack at the end of the first quarter during Philadelphia's 31-21 Week 9 win over the Houston Texans. Mark Sanchez replaced him and led the Eagles to their second road victory of 2014, completing 15 of 22 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns against two interceptions.

Foles, who made the Pro Bowl during his first season under Kelly, will be out at least the next four weeks, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. The third-year quarterback has at times struggled to recapture the magic from his 2013 campaign, throwing for 2,163 yards and 13 touchdowns against 10 interceptions this season. Kelly guided Foles to a 27:2 touchdown-to-interception ratio during the coach's first season inย Philadelphia, though most knew that was unsustainable.

Sanchez, 27, excelled in the preseason and looked comfortable while throwing his first regular-season passes since 2012 on Sunday. He will start for the 6-2 Eagles while Foles is recovering. Fellow USC product Matt Barkley, the Eagles' 2013 fourth-round pick, will serve as his backup.

For now, it remains to be see how long Philadelphia will be without Foles as the franchise continues to push for an NFC East championship.
