2015 Committed Recruits Who Continue to Flirt with Other Schools
Often, a recruit makes a commitment and shuts down his recruitment. He's given his word to a coach that he'll be joining the program, so there's no need to continue dialogue with other schools.
However, some recruits continue flirting with other schools after pledging to a program. Looking across the landscape in the 2015 class, several committed prospects are still showing attention to other schools.
A 4-star defensive lineman and Alabama commitment still likes Georgia, while the Bulldogs are hoping a 5-star athlete's affection for Auburn doesn't result in him decommitting. Also, a 4-star running back who is earmarked for Florida Atlantic has several other schools in his ear.
Andrew Butcher, DE
1 of 12
Committed to: Tennessee
Andrew Butcher is a 4-star defensive end who committed to Tennessee in June 2013. He's honored his pledge for more than a calendar year, but the Volunteers must stay on him.
He was recently offered by Stanford, and the opportunity to play in Palo Alto, California, has sparked some interest from the Georgia native. A visit to The Farm is in the works, according to Andy Drukarev of CardinalSports.com (subscription required).
Butcher told the following to Drukarev about the Cardinal on June 13: "I know they play big boy football out there and their academics are top-notch and can compete with anyone in the nation. It's just a great school in a great location."
Mook Reynolds, CB
2 of 12
Committed to: Virginia Tech
A 4-star cornerback, Mook Reynolds is a North Carolina native who pledged to Virginia Tech earlier this year. The Hokies are excited about his future in Blacksburg, but it's not certain he'll head there.
The talented cover-corner is considering Notre Dame, according to Adam Friedman of Rivals.com (subscription required). The Irish have a lot to offer as a program, so Virginia Tech has to be nervous.
Mekhi Brown, DE
3 of 12
Committed to: Alabama
From Georgia, Mekhi Brown is currently committed to Alabama. However, the 4-star defensive end has been quite busy this spring.
He has visited Notre Dame and Indiana, plus camped at Ohio State this month, according to 247Sports. Things must have gone well in Columbus, as he has already scheduled an official visit with the Buckeyes in September.
Alabama doesn't lose many commitments, but Ohio State and Notre Dame are formidable opponents in any recruiting battle.
Jordan Cronkrite, ATH
4 of 12
Committed to: Miami
When a recruit commits to a school in his hometown, he usually shuts his recruitment down. However, that doesn't apply to 4-star athlete Jordan Cronkrite.
The Miami commit is not 100 percent to the Hurricanes, according to Chris Clark of GamecockCentral.com (subscription required). Schools such as Florida State, Ohio State and South Carolina are still thick in the mix. Cronkite likely will not make up his mind until January 2015.
That means Miami will have to get used to him flirting with other schools.
Jovon Durante, WR
5 of 12
Committed to: West Virginia
Another committed prospect from Miami who is flirtatious is Jovon Durante. The 4-star receiver is a speedster who pledged to West Virginia in July 2013.
However, that has not stopped him from showing love to Alabama, Miami and Auburn, per a report by Mike Singer of CardinalSports.com. The Crimson Tide, Hurricanes and Tigers will all have their say before Durante signs his national letter of intent next February.
Dallas Warmack, OG
6 of 12
Committed to: Alabama
For what it's worth, it's not expected here that Dallas Warmack will sign with a school other than Alabama. However, he is still in contact with a few other programs in the SEC.
The 4-star guard likely will take summer trips to Georgia and South Carolina, according to Andrew Bone of TideSports.com. Auburn and Ole Miss are also in the picture.
Crimson Tide fans shouldn't get too antsy, but Warmack talking with other schools is worth monitoring.
Jordan Scarlett, RB
7 of 12
Committed to: Florida Atlantic
When Jordan Scarlett committed to Florida Atlantic in December 2013, the immediate focus began on counting down to his decommitment. The Owls simply do not sign 4-star recruits, as they're not a powerhouse program.
That's why it's not surprising to see schools such as Florida State, Ohio State and Miami as major players for him. The Florida native lists those programs among his top suitors, according to Gary Ferman of CaneSport.com.
Calvin Ridley, WR
8 of 12
Committed to: Alabama
With his solid route-running skills, Calvin Ridley is a 4-star receiver who will be highly productive in college. Alabama is hoping he flourishes in Tuscaloosa, but the Florida native may have other plans.
Since committing to the Crimson Tide in April, he has visited Tennessee, Louisville and Ohio State, according to 247Sports. It wouldn't be surprising to see him visit a few other schools this summer, which means his pledge to 'Bama isn't as strong as it initially was.
Preston Williams, WR
9 of 12
Committed to: Tennessee
Preston Williams is a 5-star receiver who is the headliner of Tennessee's class. From Georgia, he committed to Volunteers as a junior in September 2013.
He has a ton of talent, which is why other schools have not stopped trying to get in his ear. Things are not completely over between him and Auburn, Alabama and South Carolina, per his 247Sports list.
At this point, it doesn't look like Williams is heading anywhere but Knoxville. However, stranger things have happened.
Terry Godwin, ATH
10 of 12
Committed to: Georgia
It would be surprising to see Terry Godwin bolt away from Georgia, but there is a little bit of flirting going on with him and a few other programs.
The 5-star Peach State native recently visited Alabama and Auburn, according to Adam Gorney of Rivals.com. Also, a visit to Los Angeles to scope out USC is possible before the end of this cycle.
However, Godwin seems like a recruit who is just enjoying the process. UGA shouldn't be too concerned.
Kevin Toliver II, CB
11 of 12
Committed to: LSU
Committed to LSU since November 2012, Kevin Toliver II wants to get out and see some other schools. The Jacksonville native is a talented cornerback who could be ready to play immediately.
He will be a busy man this fall, as he will not only visit Baton Rouge but schools such as Auburn, Ohio State, UCLA and Virginia Tech, per Jason Stamm of HokieHaven.com.
It's not etched in stone Toliver ends up at LSU, but he still probably will.
Jonathan Ledbetter, DE
12 of 12
Committed to: Alabama
Jonathan Ledbetter is a big 4-star defensive end who committed to Alabama in January. He would be a great fit in Tuscaloosa, but the Crimson Tide must guard him closely.
He is flirting with several other schools, including Georgia, Auburn, USC and Stanford, per Anthony Dasher of UGASports.com. The Bulldogs are the ones to watch with Ledbetter, as he is close friends with 4-star defensive end and UGA pledge Chauncey Rivers, per Dasher's report.
Rivers is doing all he can to bring his friend to Athens with him, and it's apparent Ledbetter is open to the idea.
