Ike Thomas, Former NFL Player, Leads Cancer Foundation
Some men search for a cause. Others find their cause through personal trials and tribulations.
Ike Thomas, a former NFL cornerback and defensive back with the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, and Buffalo Bills, has a cause thrust before him.
Nearly 25 years ago, his then-wife, Wanda, died of breast cancer.

Thomas is now the executive director of a foundation designed to encourage and inspire families as they journey through the challenges of Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Thomas who played with the NFL for about four years, also has served as a probation officer before retirement.
LaTonya, Thomas' present wife, works with and gives loving support to two of the daughters who also have had episodes with Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Wanda's youngest sister, Madge also was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Ike Thomas has been an anchor in the family. He stands strong and shares encouragement with his family and with those around him.
He has become adept at speaking to the needs of husbands and fathers who stand with women who are challenged with Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
I salute Ike Thomas for his vision and courage. This B/R writer experienced the power, sensitivity, compassion and positiveness of Ike Thomas.
He let the men know that it is OK to shed a few tears.
An event to celebrate cancer survivors took place on June 27, 2009, at Brady's Landing in Houston, Texas.
The keynote speaker, Mrs. Darilyn Jones, a corporate executive and motivational speaker, shared inspirational words with about 200 participants.
It was an experience that touched my heart.
Without a doubt, Ike Thomas is one of those "uncommon" men that Tony Dungy describes in his recent book.
