WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around AJ Lee, Antonio Cesaro and More

Ryan DilbertJun 3, 2018

Repercussions for a backstage incident could be in AJ Lee's WWE future, and a major character change looms for Antonio Cesaro.

WWE's latest rumors give some insight to how the company felt about AJ's blow up with a minor celebrity, what's next for Cesaro, as well as a look at some of the proposed plans for Total Divas and the Royal Rumble.

Who is the company considering adding to the annual battle royal? Are we set to see more of WWE's reality show on its other shows.

Sifting through backstage news outlets provides possible answers as well as more questions to mull over.

Changes Coming for Antonio Cesaro

WWE has heard the cheers for Cesaro. After spending his entire WWE career as a heel, the company is reportedly readying to make a change.

Per F4WOnline, via WrestlingInc.com, "Word is that WWE is getting closer to turning Antonio Cesaro babyface. There's still no word yet if that means he will be breaking away from Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger."

The Cesaro Swing and the Swiss Superstar's mighty uppercut have helped earn Cesaro some of the bigger reactions from fans over the last few months. His popularity is increasing despite being aligned with a guy who regularly insults fans.

It's hard to imagine the entire Real Americans team making the turn away from the dark side. Their rhetoric is just too controversial.

The most likely scenario is Cesaro departing from the group, spinning Colter around to punctuate his face turn.

Royal Rumble Additions

Daniel Bryan, CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio are Superstars all but guaranteed to be a part of Royal Rumble 2014. WWE is reportedly thinking of infusing some unexpected wrestlers to that event.

As reported by F4WOnline, via PWMania.com, "WWE is currently looking at names for the 2014 Royal Rumble who aren't on the active roster, including a few people who will be making returns and a few potential NXT call-ups."

Are we set to see former stars like Batista and Goldberg? Those men will be at the center of rumors until the event ends and they don't appear.

Chris Jericho surprised everyone by appearing at the 2013 Rumble? Could he pull that feat off two years in a row?

The most intriguing part of this report is that WWE is possibly bringing up more NXT stars. Last year, Bo Dallas eliminated Wade Barrett, but did little after that. Should the company have NXT prospects compete in the big match, it must do a better job of introducing them to the casual fan.

There are a number of exciting wrestlers in WWE developmental who, with the right introduction, would make the most of a Rumble appearance.

More Total Divas

Get ready for more Eva Marie and more stories from the Total Divas reality show bleeding onto Raw and SmackDown. WWE is apparently considering merging its reality with its wrestling.

Per F4WOnline, via PWMania.com, "WWE officials have been discussing ideas for RAW involving Total Divas that would see something like TNA's #IMPACT365 videos be inserted into the show, basically more of a tie-in between the two shows."

This potential move is a surefire way to push diehard fans away.

Of all the things that fans believe WWE's shows are missing, it's not Total Divas tie-ins. The relationship between the E! Network show and the company's wrestling programs has already produced one of the worst in-ring performances ever.

With Raw being live, and Total Divas episodes airing long after they've been taped, it seems an impossible task to marry the two. At this point, though, there has been only discussion, not decisions. Hopefully, common sense prevails and WWE doesn't go through with blending two things that don't belong together.

The AJ Lee Incident

There was an unexpected showdown at the Tribute to the Troops taping.

AJ reportedly had a run-in with TV personality Michelle Beadle. She tweeted a series of messages explaining her side of the story.

As for what WWE thought of the spat, F4WOnline, via WrestlingInc.com, wrote that "AJ Lee is reportedly in hot water with WWE management after 'causing a scene' at last Wednesday's Tribute to the Troops event."

Being in WWE's doghouse often translates to a wrestler being asked to lose more often. With this kind of possible punishment looming, fans wondered if AJ would be asked to drop the title at TLC.

At the pay-per-view, she defeated Natalya by submission. The reason for the lack of onscreen retribution, per F4WOnline, via WrestlingInc.com, was that "WWE executives don't want to draw any more attention to the Lee-Beadle story than necessary."

It appears that WWE recognizes that AJ's value is too high to damage her position because of some backstage outburst. Leaving the incident behind is the right move.

Regardless of what happened between the two women, there's no need to hurt the product.
