TNA Impact! Wrestling: Feast or Fired Main Event Match, Final Resolution Hype
The Thursday, December 12 edition of TNA Impact! Wrestling, which aired from Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., opened with a video package featuring the AJ Styles and Dixie Carter drama that took place during last week's program.
Inside the Impact! Zone, TNA announcer Jeremy Borash began to set up the Feast or Fired match to take place later on the show. Borash announced that a TNA World Heavyweight, X-Division, Tag Team title shots and a pink slip were inside the four briefcases that were lined up on the table.
However, Kurt Angle interrupted, walked towards the ring and demanded Borash to leave. After Borash left, Angle quickly called out Bobby Roode. Roode came out to the entrance way and began taunting Angle about his failures to beat him. Angle said that he could beat Roode twice in one night, and a brawl erupted inside the ring.
After taking control of the brawl, Roode grabbed a microphone and challenged Angle to a 2-out-of-3 Falls match next week at the Final Resolution-themed show.
Match No. 1: Christopher Daniels and Kazarian vs. Eric Young and Joseph Park
Your winners via pinfall: Eric Young and Joseph Park.
After Park wanted nothing to do with the match and showed no fight, Young took his tag team partner and began to punch him in the forehead. Once blood began flowing down the head of Park, his character turned into Abyss, and that sealed the fate for Daniels and Kazarian.
Nothing spectacular about this match, this was pretty much a basic opener. It appears TNA is getting closer towards returning the Abyss character full-time by having Park realize that he may very well be his own brother.
Match Rating: 2.5/5.
Ethan Carter III came out to the ring for his match. After hyping his next random opponent, Carter III selected Borash to face him inside the ring. As a hesitant Borash was about to enter the ring, Sting interrupted and immediately approached Carter III. Sting told Carter III that the only reason he is in professional wrestling is because of his last name.
After teasing Sting to a match, Carter III elected to take the easier way out and participate in the Feast or Fired match instead of facing "The Icon."
Gail Kim, who was accompanied by Lei'd Tapa, arrived to the ring and waited for her next opponent. However, ODB caught Kim by surprise by coming out to the ring. After Kim told ODB to leave the ring, she turned her attention towards Tapa and started a brawl. However, thanks to the numbers game, Kim and Tapa took full control of the fight.
Suddenly, Madison Rayne made her TNA return by helping ODB force Kim and Tapa outside the ring.
After more footage was shown of Rockstar Spud continuing his search for Styles in Gainesville, Ga., TNA president Carter made her way to the ring and invited both Magnus and Jeff Hardy to join her. Hardy and Magnus exchanged words to hype their TNA World Heavyweight Championship match next week on Final Resolution. Carter spoke next and revealed her "Dixieland" match stipulation, which then stated that either Hardy or Magnus would need to escape a cage, head towards the stage and climb on a ladder to retrieve the World Heavyweight title hanging above.
In another video package, Spud, who found his way to Styles' home, began searching for the TNA World Heavyweight title. After finding the title on a table, Styles found Spud holding the belt. Afterwards, Spud, who was in complete fear, left Styles' house without the World Heavyweight belt.
Match No. 2: Austin Aries vs. Chris Sabin for the TNA X-Division Championship
Your winner and new X-Division champion: Austin Aries.
Although a title change was perfectly fine, this match was poorly executed on the creative end. Instead, this match did not receive enough hype to feel important to watch. Otherwise, the match was a decent one to watch but did not have that spectacular feel to it.
Match Rating: 3/5.
Match No. 3: Feast or Fired Main Event
Case No. 1: Gunner
Case No. 2: Zema Ion
Case No. 3: Ethan Carter III
Case No. 4: Chavo Guerrero
Unfortunately, despite a fun main event, this match did not do anything to save an awfully written show. Most of Impact! Wrestling was filled with in-ring segments and video packages of Spud trying to find the World Heavyweight belt from Styles. Hopefully, next week's Final Resolution-themed show will bring some light into TNA.
Match Rating: 3.5/5.
