WWE Survivor Series 2013: Best Value Bets to Make on Marquee PPV
Betting is obviously a huge part of sports, but it's something that hasn't been very prevalent in professional wrestling. That seems to be changing, however, and it could represent a way to make an otherwise bland Survivor Series card much more exciting.
There is plenty of danger in betting on WWE since the results are predetermined. That means it is entirely possible that the oddsmakers have some type of inside information. At the same time, no line is so outlandish that it raises suspicions, so things appear to be on the up and up for Survivor Series at least.
Here is a breakdown of the best value bets to make on Survivor Series based on current odds courtesy of Sky Bet.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Cody Rhodes, Goldust, The Usos and Rey Mysterio (7-2)
Survivor Series was built upon five-on-five elimination matches, and while they don't occur with as much frequency as they used to, there is an awfully good one on tap for Sunday. The face team of Cody Rhodes, Goldust, The Usos and Rey Mysterio will take on the heel team of The Shield and The Real Americans in a bout that should have little problem stealing the show.
If things go according to plan, you could make a steal of a bet as well.
The heel team is established as a 1-6 favorite, while the faces are underdogs at 7-2. On one hand, it can be argued that the heels are due to win since they were vanquished in separate matches on SmackDown, but logical booking suggests otherwise.
Mysterio is a big star who has just returned, so it's difficult to imagine him taking a fall. The creative team needs to continue building him up before throwing him into a big feud, and being the sole survivor in this match would help immensely.
Also, The Shield is clearly on the road toward breaking up, and even though that may not be ideal, this match can be used as a way to further the turmoil. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have been losing a lot lately, and winning this match wouldn't fit the narrative.
The only way that they win this match is if Rollins and Reigns find a way to survive with Ambrose left out in the cold since that could widen the schism between them. Failing that, the face team is a great value bet.
Wyatt Family (6-4)
In what some might argue is the most intriguing match on the Survivor Series card, Daniel Bryan and CM Punk will team up to take on Luke Harper and Erick Rowan of the Wyatt Family. The Wyatts attacked both Bryan and Punk a few weeks ago, and they have attempted to make their life a living hell ever since. Bryan and Punk have gotten the better of most of the exchanges, though, and the Wyatts are in need of a signature win to lend more credibility to the group.
Bryan and Punk are clearly two of the biggest stars in the company, and while that may lead some to believe that they're a lock to win on Sunday, it could also be interpreted as them not needing to win due to the fact that they're already established.
Despite that, The Beard and The Best are slight 1-2 favorites, while Harper and Rowan have been installed as 6-4 underdogs.
That hasn't stopped Wyatt from taking aim at the favored team on Twitter:
Not only do the Wyatts have the added distraction of Bray Wyatt outside the ring, but it wouldn't be a huge shock to see someone else get involved as well. Wyatt has often alluded to "the devil" making him attack the likes of Bryan and Punk, so perhaps the devil will manifest itself.
My vote is for interference on the part of Kane to help Harper and Rowan win, which would allow Bryan to face Kane at TLC, while Punk could continue his angle with Wyatt.
Big Show (11-4)
Most seem to firmly believe that the Survivor Series main event is a foregone conclusion, but there hasn't been nearly enough discussion about the possibility of Big Show winning. Perhaps conventional wisdom suggests that WWE Champion Randy Orton will retain since he recently regained the title at Hell in a Cell and has been hailed as the face of the company, but future storyline plans could lead to a transitional reign for The World's Largest Athlete.
Orton enters Survivor Series as a 1-4 favorite, and Big Show is one of the biggest dogs on the card at 11-4. There probably aren't many fans out there who want to see Big Show as WWE Champion, so perhaps those odds are wishful thinking.
Even if Big Show doesn't win the title by pinfall or submission, there is a distinct possibility that he could win this match via disqualification or count out if Orton decides to take the easy way out. That would extend the feud to TLC without making a title change quite yet.
At the same time, transferring the strap to Big Show shouldn't be discounted completely. Provided the storyline heat between Orton and Triple H is legitimate, Orton won't have any help on Sunday. It's unlikely that he'll be able to defeat Big Show in a straight-up match, and that gives Big Show a fighting chance.
Also, since a Big Show vs. Triple H match figures to be on the horizon at some point, perhaps it will involve the WWE Championship in order to place The Game in the WrestleMania main event against potential Royal Rumble winner Daniel Bryan.
