Saints Looking to Gun Arsenal Down
A bet on Southampton challenging for top spot at this point of the season would have received fine odds three months ago and Mauricio Pochettino has done magnificently to build a side that's currently just three points off the top of the table.
It's been a long time since the Saints posed as much of a threat to Arsene Wenger's side as they do now, with the in-form likes of Adam Lallana, Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert all featuring in Roy Hodgson's most recent England squad.
After losing to Manchester United in their last outing, the Gunners need to ensure they don't suffer back-to-back losses, lest all that early-season steam be built up for nought.
Aston Villa vs. West Brom Derby
Admittedly the less talked-about Premier League derby this weekend, but a fierce encounter nonetheless, comes between West Brom and Aston Villa.
The West Midlands pair are currently just three points apart—sit at ninth and 10th in the standings, respectively—with Monday's meeting a potentially massive decider in the power stakes.
Paul Lambert and Steve Clarke's sides have just two wins between them in their last 10 combined league fixtures, however, making this week as good a time as any other to get things back on track.
Merseyside Derby
Arguably the match of the weekend comes at the first possible turn, where Everton and Liverpool will entertain at Goodison Park in Saturday's early kick-off.
Yet again, this encounter promises to set apart two sides currently divided by fine margins, and although the Toffees sit four places below their fierce rivals in sixth, Roberto Martinez's outfit are only three points away from Brendan Rodgers' 23-point tally.
The Reds are unbeaten in their last two league trips to Everton and will be hoping to maintain a Premier League title push in the best possible way.
