UFC 167: Top Moments from Exciting MMA Event

Tom SunderlandJun 2, 2018

In the buildup to this weekend's UFC 167 event, all eyes were on the four fighters competing in the two co-main events, and they didn't fail to impress.

In the end, Georges St-Pierre and Rashad Evans walked out of their bouts as victors, triumphing over the challenges of Johny Hendricks and Chael Sonnen, respectively.

However, the rest of the card provided a highlight reel of high-octane action too—which the Ultimate Fighting Championship has built its foundations on.

With a brilliant blend of established and up-and-coming talent on show, the latest event produced its share of hard-to-forget moments.

Rashad Evans Stops Chael Sonnen

Evans and Sonnen put aside their friendship when they met inside the Octagon on Saturday, and Evans came out on top of the encounter.

"The American Gangster" tapped from strikes at the end of the first round after Evans forced him up against the fence and refused to relent in the onslaught.

With the win, "Suga" appears to be getting things back on track, after suffering two back-to-back losses to Jon Jones and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira not more than a year ago. His future in the 205-pound division is looking brighter.

GSP's Controversial Win Over Hendricks

St-Pierre's split-decision win over Hendricks on Saturday was as close as they come. That's not to say the Canadian didn't deserve the win, but there's a reason why Dana White was so vocal about his views on the result afterward.

A knockout victory was never looking too likely in this bout, but even a finish of this fine a margin was tough to call. However, GSP and Hendricks succeeded in their mission to entertain.

With the reigning welterweight champion announcing his break from fighting, it may be a debatable note to leave things on but an exciting one all the same.

Tyron Woodley Knocks Out Josh Koscheck

Tyron Woodley secured Knockout of the Night credentials after feeding Koscheck an almighty right hook that the latter won't (or will) forget too soon.

The first of two first-round stoppages of the night, Woodley couldn't have hoped to come back from his loss to Jake Shields in anymore confident a manner. He is firmly back on the road to his redemption as a result.
