Wales vs. Argentina: Score, Recap and More from 2013 Autumn International
Wales rebounded from a disappointing home defeat to South Africa with a resounding 40-6 victory over Argentina at the Millennium Stadium.
It was a reminder of the flowing, incisive rugby the Welsh can and have played under Warren Gatland, and a measure of revenge for last year's fixture, which they lost 12-26.
Mike Phillips and George North ran in tries in the first half, while Toby Faletau rounded off a superb team move in the second, before Ken Owens added some gloss to the scoreline.
The tone was set in the first 10 minutes—first Leigh Halfpenny kicking a penalty after some early pressure, then Phillips punishing a spill from Nicolas Sanchez.
Argentina could not settle—despite Justin Tipuric being sin-binned—and with Halfpenny's kicking sharp as ever, the lead grew further and became 20-0 when he converted North's try.
An exchange of penalties kept the lead at 20 points at half-time, and two more kicks were split after the resumption, before Faletau struck.
Liam Williams' pulsating run down the touchline made it, but Faletau's supporting run made it possible.
It settled the contest, and the rest was about damage limitation for the Pumas.
When Owens crossed for his first Wales try, it became apparent the Welsh would finish in style.
Wales are back in action on Friday night against Tonga, before their autumn concludes in a fortnight with a showdown against Australia in Cardiff.
