Breeders' Cup 2013 TV Schedule: Full Breakdown of NBC Sports' Saturday Coverage

Patrick ClarkeNov 2, 2013

The 2013 Breeders' Cup will conclude at Santa Anita Park on Saturday with several marquee events, headlined by the Classic.

Game On Dude, Mucho Macho Man and Fort Larned head an 11-horse field that will compete for the $5 million purse on Saturday night. But before the action reaches a fever pitch with the Classic, there are eight other events for horse racing fans and bettors to take in.

The best part is that all of Saturday's action will be broadcast on NBC and the NBC Sports Network, with coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET.

What to Watch For

Saturday's Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Classic races are two of the marquee events that viewers won't want to miss. The Juvenile race for two-year-old colts and geldings will offer horse racing fans a glimpse at the future while the prime-time Classic will feature slightly more high-stakes drama.

In the Juvenile, Todd Pletcher's Havana is the odds-on favorite. The colt has won each of his two career starts, including last month's Foxwoods Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park. With John Velazquez on board and starting out wide in post No. 13, it's no surprise Havana tops the field with 5-2 odds heading into Saturday.

Bob Baffert's Tap It Rich and D. Wayne Lukas' Strong Mandate are two other dangerous contenders. Each has odds listed at 6-1 coming into the weekend.

The Breeders' Cup finale, the Classic, will feature several elite horses, including defending race champion Fort Larned. The Ian Wilkes-trained horse will be jockeyed by Brian Hernandez as the familiar trio look to make it two in a row at Santa Anita.

Game On Dude will hit the track as the odds-on favorite to win the Classic, though. Baffert's contender has won each of his last six times out since finishing seventh in last year's Classic and will ride from post No. 9.

With a full day of racing ahead, there'll be plenty to watch for. But if you're only going to tune in for one race, let it be the Breeders' Cup Classic.
