Week 10 Preview
The Gunners currently top the league table and will be hoping to go some way to prove their title-winning credentials against Brendan Rodgers' visitors, who can boast two of the most lethal finishers in English football at present in Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez.
Liverpool head into the fixture in third place, just two points behind Arsenal and level with Chelsea, who are above the Reds at present by virtue of their superior goal difference.
Jose Mourinho's men will be kicking off the week's fixtures as they travel to the North East to play Newcastle United in the early kick-off on Saturday.
With the Magpies likely to still be reeling from their dismal derby day defeat to Sunderland in Week 9, the Blues will be expecting to dominate Alan Pardew's men and take all three points.
A win would lift Frank Lampard and Co. to first in the league, if only temporarily, with Arsenal and Liverpool's showdown scheduled to be played in the late afternoon.
Coming off the back of his match-winning goal against Manchester City, Fernando Torres will be wanting to heave more pressure on his team's top four rivals by racking up the goals against Newcastle away.
The battle for fourth is also full of intrigue, with Everton's clash with Spurs likely to decide who will take the spot going into Week 11. Mauricio Pochettino's Southampton could pip both clubs, however, as they pay a visit to Stoke City in the hope that their ever-improving game will be enough to punch through Mark Hughes' solid yet unspectacular Stoke team.
When it comes to the Manchester clubs, Manchester United will travel to Fulham while City take on Norwich at home. Both fixtures should result in routine wins for David Moyes and Manuel Pellegrini, respectively, but considering both teams' inconsistent form this season, anything could happen.
In fact, Norwich arguably deserve to get a result after putting up a valiant fight against both Arsenal and Chelsea of late, only to lose by unflattering margins once their game plan was sussed out.
Should Chris Hughton be able to keep his side in the match until the very end, they may be able to at least shut down City's main avenues of attack using their standard if conservative 4-5-1 formation.
Fulham may already be growing desperate for points, and should Martin Jol find a way to motivate his team, United could end up facing a far hungrier and threatening Fulham side than the form sheet may suggest.
The pick of the fixtures outside of the title race is perhaps the South Wales derby between Cardiff City and Swansea City, however, with Malky Mackay's high-octane team readying themselves to cut Michael Laudrup's technical pass masters down to size.
