🚨 Mitchell Headed to 1st Conference Finals

Orlando Has the Better Team But Cleveland Has the Better Coach

Will GraysonMay 24, 2009

For once, Mike Brown didn't get out-coached.  For once, he didn't sit back like all the other millions and watch LeBron do his thing.  Sure, LeBron improvised, but it was Brown who birthed the game-winning play.

For the citizens of Cleveland, Ohio and transients across the world, Friday night put to rest a whole lot of demons.  Unfortunately, no championship was crowned and no rings were forged in steel.  The symbol of hope and belief was born.

Now, the Indians and Browns have to get their acts together due to the spark that exists within LeBron James.  Game Three of the Eastern conference finals presents a new twist.  Orlando's fear is that LeBron will, yet again, turn their smiles upside down with Mike Brown as the brains behind the whole thing.

Had the Cavaliers gone down 0-2, the series would have been far from over. Now, I'm calling three straight for the Cavaliers.

Let it be known that this is "My Team!"  No one individual will be as critical of the players, coaches, and front office personnel than myself.  With that being said, a couple of things need to remain consistent.

Sasha Pavlovic's bench production must continue to blossom.  Where he lacks in defensive awareness, his offensive skills are endless.  It will be important for Pavlovic to offset Pietrus' bench production for the Magic.

Ben Wallace has to come up with big minutes at whatever position for the remainder of this series.  Rest assured that, if the Cavs had lost Game Two, Wallace would be the starting power forward on the evening of Memorial Day.  His defensive movement and rotation were effective during his play Friday night.

The stage is now set for Mo Williams to take the baton from LeBron and run with it.  Williams' shooting percentage is horrible, yet, at any given moment, the potential for him to "flame on" is evident.

Van Gundy uses ten players and Mike Brown uses eight.  Brown must be dead-on with his personnel decisions in order to pull this off.  The Orlando Magic are a better team, but not with LeBron James at the power forward.  That's right: it's time for a little small ball.
