Cavs-Magic: Forget The West, Basketball Lives in The East
All that can be said is wow.
After what looked to be another heart breaking shot by the Magic, who seemed destined to beat Cleveland, came a shot that will be remembered for generations.
If I ever had grandkids I would tell them of last night.
Let's not get carried away. The Magic are a real threat. They know how to come back.
I knew watching last night that a 23-point lead was not going to be enough. As expected I was right, it was not enough.
Basketball lives in the East now. The Eastern Conference Finals is shaping up to be one of the greatest series that I have ever witnessed.
With last nights win, the series is tied at one. Now the Cavaliers have to regain home-court from the Magic, and that is not going to be an easy task.
Before Game One, the media had written off the Magic. Well, now they are not.
The fans in Cleveland did not underestimate them, and some of us thought that they were going to win the series.
With last night's performance, the Cavaliers, too, should not be written off.
Last night saw adjustments that both teams made to defend All Stars. James had 35 and Howard got 10. Both saw new defensive strategies be employed.
The X-factor again was shooting forwards Lewis and Turkoglu.
This looks like it is going to be a rough series.
However, to look ahead, the keys to Game Three:
Mo and West are going to need to step it up on the offensive side of the ball.
Though he had 19 points, Mo Williams did not shoot the ball that well, finishing seven of 21. He needs to be more confident with his shots.
The Magic outscored the Cavaliers in all quarters except the first. The Cavs need to play more consistent the next game around.
The final thing that the Cavaliers need to do is find a way to slow down Orlando's shooters.
Antony Johnson was lights out, and in the fourth, Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis looked unstoppable. Make them work harder for shots, and the Cavaliers can win.
Most importantly they just need to play more consistently to win ball games.
The Cavalier bench stepped up, giving Dwight Howard a lot of trouble. If they can continue to do that then they are going to have a better chance of winning this series.
With all that has been said, I still think that the Cavaliers will take the series in six, but possibly seven.
