Peavy To Chicago: Wait, But Not The Cubs?!
While it has not been been finalized—there is still a chance that Peavy can invoke his no-trade clause—the Padres have agreed to trade their ace to the White Sox for four minor leaguers.
With all of the offseason talk of Peavy coming to the Cubs, this move comes as a bit of a shock to Cubs fans.
One sticking point to the deal being finalized is that no-trade clause of Peavy's. He has expressed interest in being traded to a few NL teams including the Cubs, Braves, and Astros but had seemed uninterested in a move to the American League.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
From the Cubs' point of view, acquiring Peavy has become less of a necessity than once thought. While any team would love to have him, the Cubs' issues seem to be in the bullpen.
With Randy Wells pitching very well filling in for the injured Carlos Zambrano and Jeff Samardzija being groomed as a starter now in Triple-A, the Cubs seem to have enough depth at the starting pitcher spot.
The four-year, $63 million Peavy investment seems unwise.
The move certainly makes sense for the Padres, who are once again struggling.
They are rumored to be receiving a pair of talented left-handers in Aaron Poreda and Clayton Richard, the Sox' top two pitching prospects.
Time will tell if this move will be finalized, but as a Cubs fan, I have made peace with the fact that we probably will not get the talented Peavy and furthermore do not really need him.
That is unless he is interested in a set-up role out of the bullpen.
