Despite Kevin Gregg, Cubs Win Fifth Straight

Can the magic continue on the North Side?
Randy Wells, Angel Guzman, and Carlos Marmol get the job done
What about closer Kevin Gregg?
After yesterday's drama in the ninth inning, fans were reminded that no lead for the Cubs is a safe one when Aaron Heilman or Kevin Gregg takes the mound.
Randy Wells has thrown 11 innings since taking Carlos Zambrano's spot in the rotation and already clocked his first major league win. He has developed his sinker to keep the batters off their toes and has successfully managed to scout the competition before each game.
When Carlos Zambrano comes back into the rotation this week, it will be hard to toss Wells back to Iowa. Fans can expect Randy to be either a sixth man in the rotation or to help clean up the bullpen.
Cubs fans are still up in the air about Kevin Gregg. Last season he blamed his knee injury for blowing nine saves in Florida's pen. Yesterday afternoon, Gregg wasn't in a save situation and blamed the lack of intensity for his brutal performance.
His excuses carried on when he explained that in his 90 expected save situations this season, there will times where he "just won't have it."
Some of what he says is true, but with the Cubs losing games this season from dropping two run leads, Lou and the administration need that certain someone to keep that lead and pitch with definitive passion.
Right now, the Cubs are playing through some of the weak spots in their schedule. Beware that this will change over the next few weeks and the Cubs will experience a rude awakening when they match up against some of the tougher teams in the National League.
The magic will continue for the Cubs for as long as they play solid baseball and renew consistency among the bullpen.
