2015 Prospects Already Better Than Top 2014 Prospects
It is never too early to talk recruiting. The 2015 prospects will be in the spotlight faster than many realize. The junior class has a lot of talent coming through the ranks, and college coaches have already begun to pluck prospects from that crop.
Several 2015 prospects would be ranked high even if they were in the 2014 class. This year's group has excellent talent, but a few juniors appear to have as much potential, if not more, than their 2014 counterparts.
A receiver in Florida would have challenged for No. 1 honors if he were a senior, while a cornerback from the Sunshine State would fit right in with this year's talented players at his position. Also, a defensive end in Minnesota is better than a couple of 2014 prospects.
Jeffrey Holland, OLB
1 of 5Jeffrey Holland is a 5-star outside linebacker from Florida who is a menace to offenses. He is 6'2", 230 pounds and has great instincts, speed and has the ability to stack blocks and shed.
Holland could be an even better prospect than 2014 5-star outside 'backer Clifton Garrett due to him being a slightly better athlete and his better ability to play in space. Both recruits are great players, but Holland could already be ahead of where Garrett is as a senior.
Keep an eye on Florida.
Jashon Cornell, DE
2 of 5At 6'4" and 245 pounds, Jashon Cornell is an explosive defensive end who has the ability to fire off the ball and bend around blockers to finish on quarterbacks.
However, Cornell is not a one-dimensional player. The 5-star 2015 recruit has great ball-location skills, good strength to set the edge versus running plays and flashes anchor strength versus tight ends.
Cornell may be more consistently explosive than 2014 5-star defensive end Da'Shawn Hand and 4-star defensive lineman Kentavius Street.
Florida and Michigan have already offered the Minnesota native, says 247Sports.
Kevin Toliver II, CB
3 of 5Kevin Toliver II is a 5-star cornerback in the 2015 class who is a bigger and stronger version of 5-star 2014 cornerback Marlon Humphrey.
Toliver, who is from Florida, is 6'2" and 180 pounds. He has exceptional athleticism, a quick backpedal and displays loose hips. He separates himself from Humphrey by having better strength, especially in press-man coverage. Toliver also has more fluid movement skills than 2014 5-star cover man Jalen Tabor.
The LSU commit would be ranked among talented 2014 cornerbacks such as Adoree' Jackson, Tony Brown, Humphrey and Tabor.
Jalin Barnett, OG
4 of 5A warrior in the trenches, Jalin Barnett is a 2015 5-star guard from Oklahoma who can also play tackle. He plays with a mean streak, is a giant at the point of attack and can be a mauler in the running game.
Barnett, who is 6'4" and 315 pounds, operates with a more impressive on-field demeanor than 5-star offensive tackle Damian Prince. He also has superior conditioning to 5-star guard Damien Mama.
Oklahoma and Stanford are two notable early offers from Barnett, according to 247Sports.
George Campbell, WR/ATH
5 of 5Although he can play safety, George Campbell will likely line up at receiver when he gets to Michigan. The Florida native is an elite 2015 prospect who is nearly 6'4" and weighs 184 pounds.
Campbell, a 5-star prospect, has better speed than 2014 4-star Michigan commit Drake Harris. Harris has solid ball skills, but Campbell can get on top of defenses more consistently while still possessing similar size to the 2014 receiver.
The pair will make a good tandem, but do not be shocked if Campbell emerges as the No. 1 target by making more big plays in Ann Arbor.
