Top Storyline: Wisconsin's Rushing Attack Just Fine Without Montee Ball
Montee Ball may have put up some historic numbers with Wisconsin, but the Badgers appear to be doing just fine without him.
James White, Melvin Gordon and Corey Clement all dazzled in Week 1, albeit against inferior competition.
White averaged 6.4 yards per carry last season, while Gordon averaged 10.0 yards per carry on 62 rushes, so I'm not that surprised that both have filled the void left by Ball's departure. The production of promising rookie Corey Clement—the No. 12 running back in the 2013 class, according to 247Sports.com—is simply an added bonus.
Wisconsin's real test will come against No. 3 Ohio State on Sept. 28, but for now it's smooth sailing for the Badgers.
Prediction: Wisconsin 56, Tennessee Tech 10
Tennessee Tech's defense should be no match for Wisconsin's high-powered rushing attack, and that's not even mentioning the continued maturation of quarterback Joel Stave, who connected with receiver Jared Abbrederis on touchdowns of 65 and 57 yards against UMass.
The game will end quickly as the Badgers roll over the Golden Eagles en route to their next matchup against Arizona State.
It's never a good idea to look ahead to your next opponent, but I would be surprised if this wasn't a blowout, even if Wisconsin isn't at its best. The three-headed monster of White, Gordon and Clement is for real.
