Everybody Loves Eddie Jordan
From coast to coast, NBA teams are discovering the secret that the Wizards managed to waste; when it comes to rebuilding a franchise, few do it better than Eddie Jordan.
The Sacramento Kings, the Philadelphia 76ers, the list will likely grow throughout the summer unless an early offer becomes too tough to refuse for our homeboy. And whether he heads to Philly or heads West, he inherits a club upon which he will be able to make an immediate impact.
In Sacramento, he will garner one of the top three picks in the 2009 NBA Draft, which means an basketball prodigy in Blake Griffin, one of the best point guards in the world in Ricky Rubio, or Mutombo: Reloaded in Hasheem Thabeet. Either way, his team gets national recognition and free reign on a young offense eager to run, score and win.
In Philly, he will find a playoff team that lack offensive spark, but has enough heart and defensive tenacity to contend in the East under his leadership. A defensive-minded front court led by Elton Brand, a patient point guard in Andre Miller, and a solid ‘tweener in Andre Iguodala will put the 76ers in the mix to be the fourth best team in the Eastern Conference behind the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic.
A position that should’ve been occupied by the Washington Wizards.
There is a slow transitioning of power from the West to the East, with the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks dramatically improving their talent and poise. Eddie Jordan returning to the bench in the East would be a key acquisition for the conference to usurp the attention of hardcore NBA fans. Should he head West, he’ll have a tougher time, but a much longer leash for success.
Basketball coaching heaven must be like this.
