Ten Questions For Lions' Receiver Ronald Curry

Dave RyanMay 12, 2009

Keep in mind that these are all hypothetical questions here. Ronald Curry played seven seasons in Oakland where he caught 193 passes and scored 13 touchdowns. He was signed to a one year free agent contract by the Lions this offseason. Known for his elite athleticism, Curry makes acrobatic catches look easy. He is expected to compete for the #2, #3, and #4 wide receiver slots this summer.

After seven years in Oakland you decided to sign elsewhere. Was this a product of becoming tired with the drama associated with the Raiders' organization or were you just looking for a fresh start in another city?

Being a new player on a team with a brand new coaching staff, do you think it benefits you considering that every single player on the roster has to adjust to the new scheme as well?

Not many people immediately flock to an 0-16 team when their contract is up, but Detroit still managed to pull in a very deep and very talented crop of free agents including yourself. What was it about head coach Jim Schwartz and general manager Martin Mayhew that inspired confidence in you that this team was headed in the right direction?

You've been unfortunately hit with a fair share of injuries during your career, how are you preparing yourself physically to ensure that you make it through the full 16 game season this year?

Talk about what you have seen from both quarterbacks (Matthew Stafford and Daunte Culpepper). Since there was obviously a desire to add speed at the playmaker positions in the offseason, do you think the Lions will surprise people with their vertical passing game this year?

You're a natural athlete with the ball in your hands. Is there any chance that we could see you lined up in the Wildcat formation taking direct snaps in 09'?

Tell me about the most memorable catch you've ever made in your career. Is there one in particular that stands out above the rest or are there a handful that are somewhat clumped together?

A lot of people forget that you were once a seventh round draft pick back in 2002. Detroit drafted three guys in the seventh this year, two of which are offensive players (OL-Lydon Murtha and TE-Dan Gronkowski). If you could offer up one bit of advice for these two, what would you tell them?

You turn 30 later on this month. Do you have any regrets about not pursuing a basketball career when you had the chance? Would we be watching you playing in the NBA right now if you would've went the opposite direction?

Give me your reasonable expectations for this team heading into the 09-10 season. How many wins would you consider a success?
