The Hit Parade Moves to Phoenix
Bronson Arroyo rebounded from his miserable outing last week. He made up for his five runs and ten hits (including three home runs) by going seven innings and giving his bullpen a little break.
My boy Daniel Ray Herrera pitched a scoreless eighth and Mike Lincoln (who is not my boy, but is starting to improve) did the same in the ninth.
The Reds had season highs in runs (13), hits (18), doubles (6), and extra base hits (8).
The story of the night, individually, was Willy Taveras who hit in each of his five at-bats.
Joey Votto’s night wasn’t too bad either. It went like this: 2-for-4, two RBI, a walk, and a run scored. The guy can’t help but hit and drive in runs.
Laynce Nix and Adam Rosales knocked out back-to-back homers in the fourth. That’s the first back-to-backer this season for the Reds.
Chris Welsh threw out an interesting stat during the broadcast tonight: the Reds have won nine of their last eleven in Phoenix. Just when I thought it was only the Reds who get beat up on like that.
Looking at tomorrow
Micah Owings (2-3, 5.08) will face his old team and their current ace, Danny Haren (3-3, 1.84). Needless to say, it should be a different type of game tomorrow night.
But let’s not look at tomorrow too soon. Tonight was so good, I’d like to hang on to it for a while.
