NBA Rumors: Latest Buzz on Greg Oden, Mike Miller and More

Alex KayJun 4, 2018

This point of the NBA offseason usually marks the time when the last remaining free agents fight for the few available roster spots that still haven’t been filled.

It’s a bit different this year, as a number of teams still have plenty of room and are trying to make the best possible decisions in order to contend for a championship or kick-start a rebuilding effort.

Let’s take a look at some of the players that these teams are eyeing and highlight more of the latest buzz in Wednesday’s rumor roundup.

Greg Oden Working Out

Despite not playing in an NBA contest in almost four years and coming off another set of knee surgeries last year, only three teams reportedly attended Greg Oden’s workout on Tuesday.

According to Jeff Goodman and Marc Stein of ESPN, only the Sacramento Kings, Miami Heat and New Orleans Pelicans bothered sending representatives to Indianapolis to watch the big man move.

Other suitors such as the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs are still in the running to ink Oden but did no favors by not sending at least one scout to observe on Tuesday.

It’ll be interesting to hear how the workouts went and where the former No. 1 overall pick ends up signing when all is said and done.

Mike Miller Visiting Teams

Mike Miller was recently cut loose from the Miami Heat via the amnesty clause and the long-range shooter went unclaimed on waivers.

He’s now an unrestricted free agent and gets to choose where he will play next, all while having his old contract honored by the South Beach franchise.

According to Royce Young of CBSSports.com, Miller recently visited the Thunder’s practice facility and spoke with management.

OKC is reportedly making a hard push to land the sniper that buried them in Game 5 of the 2012 NBA Finals, as his ability to space the floor and knock down treys in limited minutes would be a major boost off the bench.

The Thunder will have a bit of competition, as both the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets are reportedly in the mix for the veteran swingman, according to Stein.

Miller must take his time choosing and weigh his options carefully if he is going to position himself to help dethrone the Heat and win a third straight championship.

Paul George Will Get Extension

After a breakout year in 2012-13, Paul George deserves a maximum contract from the Indiana Pacers.

The emerging superstar has a chance to be one of the best players in the league due to his height, range, athleticism and scoring instincts. Failing to lock him up for the long-term would be downright foolish of the Pacers.

Fortunately, a source informed Stein that the two sides are currently in the midst of a contract negotiation and it is a “foregone conclusion” that they will hammer out max extension sooner than later.

George represents the best chance for the Pacers to win and giving him anything less would be disrespectful and unwise.
