Brett Favre, Is It Really Over?
Unlike KFFL Editor Cory J. Bonini, I’m going to write about Brett Favre, America’s most overrated modern day quarterback. That and I don’t have my sleepers done yet to show you. For those of you looking for early offseason sleepers, head over to his blog, as he tosses a few bones your way!
Is future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre going to stay retired? How did we get to this point with all the stories? That is, how did they originate if not true? From where did they originate if not true?
That’s the dilemma we’re faced with that we’ll ignore in today’s day and age. There was a day when reporting a story and searching it out was much more carefully done. If these stories are true, why is Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, stating the following?

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
- Cook said all he knows is that Favre remains retired.
- Cook stated he did not have any knowledge that Favre and Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress were meeting. While they didn’t meet face-to-face, they did talk via phone.
- Cook stated Favre is not working with a personal trainer.
- Cook said Favre is not looking for a quarterbacks coach, either.
Look, Cook is Favre’s agent and we know he can be a real jerk of a human being with flat-out lies to the media. The Jay Cutler saga showed us he will do anything for his client.
To me, Cook seems to be nothing but a slimy excuse of a human being. Some of these high-end agents are nothing but slime balls.
I met one once and I got into an argument with him because he wanted to pull the race card after his client did not get the job. In the end it had nothing to do with race; it had to do with the fact his client just wasn’t that good! He didn’t like me saying that, I guess, as he also stopped feeding KFFL.
It didn’t bother us, to be honest; maybe it did for one of the staff who believed he was friends with him. Agents, most of them, will justify their selfishness and greed by crossing any gray ethical area by stating they’re just doing their jobs.
Didn’t we hear that from most of the captured Nazis? My point is they don’t care about anything but the greenbacks!
That stated, I would have to think if any one of these stories were true, Cook would have known about! Since contact between Favre and Childress did happen, I can’t say I believe much of what Bus Cook has to say.
My first and only question to Mr. Cook is that it appears Favre did talk to Childress and as Favre’s agent you’re trying to tell us you did not know? In the end, we have to ask, what games are Favre and Cook playing?
Let’s not forget Favre played games with the Green Bay Packers his final few years, so I won’t put it past him or Cook to do the same here. In fact, I expect it!
Guess what Cook told ESPN and USA Today: Favre could always change his mind. You think? Could this be a ploy for Favre to land a huge one-year financial windfall? If that is the case, the Vikings need to take a hard look at a man who is finally becoming known for his true self, a selfish, me-first player.
I say that with no apologies to John Madden, who slobbered so much over Favre that it reminds me of my Labrador while I’m eating a big juicy steak! Sorry, I just couldn’t resist the Madden jab...because it’s true!
If he is doing this for money and his heart isn’t in it then the Vikings are looking at a tumultuous season. Look at the New York Jets by the end of the season last year! Favre was treated differently as excuses were made for his play. However, it began to alienate the locker room as former teammate Thomas Jones let us know.
We could also look at it through Favre’s eyes. He desperately wants another Super Bowl ring, which is normal for any player. He was not happy he was not the Super Bowl MVP but he didn’t deserve it.
Maybe Favre wants to be “the man” in a Super Bowl and that’s what drives him? It’s one possibility as most have finally come to realize it’s all about Favre as far as he’s concerned!
This story is far from over, especially with the latest reports surfacing that suggest Favre will sign with the Vikings if his shoulder checks out fine. Heck, we’re only in May and training camps don’t kick off until August.
That gives Favre three months to continue playing mind games with the media, fans, and anyone else who he feels can give him the attention he so desperately craves.
To be continued...
