Sami Hyypia—A Liverpool Legend

Matthew WatsonMay 7, 2009

The term "legend" is batted around far too easily in football nowadays, but this man, without doubt, deserves to hold that title.

Sami is still a class act so I have no qualms over him leaving to find regular first team football, however it will be sad to see him leave. Bayer have struck gold with this signing and I wish Sami all the best and hope to one day see him back at Anfield in some capacity.

A fantastic guy, a great professional and an outstanding centre half.
Sami Hyypia, a true Liverpool legend.
Sunday afternoon saw the lads picked up an extremely comfortable three points against a poor, poor Newcastle side.

The game was effectively over after 22 minutes, after Yossi's opener.
Newcastle were gone and there was no coming back. They gave Liverpool far too much time and space to play in, it was so easy for us to stroke the ball around, we never had to get out of second gear.
After the first five minutes I was sure Stevie would bag himself a goal or two. He just had the freedom of the pitch at times, so much time and space to do what he pleased.
Along with Xabi, he was extremely unlucky not to nab a couple.
Back in December, Newcastle struggled with defending set-pieces and corners. It was absolutely diabolical defending for Lucas' goal.
Goal-side you say?

I'm also very glad to see Xabi is okay after that thugs horrible, needless tackle.
How many more chances is that boy going to get?
Five or six nil would not have flattered us on Sunday, we were that dominant.
In my opinion, performance wise, Newcastle was the worst team to visit Anfield this season. They were disorganised, posed little threat on offense, gave us far too much time and space, and they showed very little fight, which must be very worrying for the Newcastle faithful knowing the predicament they find themselves in.
On another note, how poor were Middlesborough on Saturday?

A young, inexperienced side with nothing upfront who gave United far too much time and space to play in. There was only one man who looked like doing something for Boro on Saturday and that was Tuncay.

How huge is the North-East derby in a couple of weeks going to be now?
The final point I want to make is to Mr. Wenger. Revenge is sweet, and you get your chance next week. Take it
Come on you Redmen.
