Braylon Edwards, Thomas Jones, Brett Favre...What Makes Sense?
How boring would our lives be without the Jets drama of these two most recent offseasons?
The first article I write just has to touch on rumors galore. I can't help myself.
What a drama. Braylon Edwards potentially landing with the Jets? Thomas Jones holding out of voluntary workouts for a new contract? Brett Favre "possibly un-retiring again?" How can anyone not write about this stuff?

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
So let's jump right in and lump together Braylon Edwards and Thomas Jones. The trade rumors brewing, as far as I know, are the result of the creativity of Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer (http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2009/05/hey_tony_tony_grossi_answers_y_42.html). There's really not much else to say. All the hype has been focused on that one mention of the idea it could work.
Now this isn't to say that it doesn't make sense. Edwards wants out and Jones wants a new deal. Hypothetically, a trade can give them both what they want and fill a need for both teams. The Jets obviously need that No. 1 wide receiver and the Browns can use the depth at running back.
As a Jets fan, I have no problem with trading Jones. His contract demands are completely unreasonable. Yes, he had a great year. But his contract was also front-loaded with millions of dollars to help with the salary cap. With two years left on that contract, Jones has no right to demand anything. That's an attitude the Jets organization does not need.
Despite Braylon Edwards injury history, and as a result, inconsistency, he is still slightly more valuable than Jones (mostly due to age, Edwards is 26, while Jones will be 32). If any deal were to be made, Jones and a mid-level pick (or player as the draft taught us) is the most realistic scenario. Cleveland has certainly set the stage for a deal with their draft picks and their recent signing of Mike Furrey.
One question for Jets fans regarding Jones potentially being traded. Do you trust Shonn Greene to start right away? He's already admitted he can't catch very well. Is Braylon Edwards worth that risk? (I think so, in fact, I'd make that trade in a heartbeat).
Now... Brett Favre is at it again. Does anyone really believe that he's NOT going to make another comeback? Seriously? Anyone? Where's Yogi Berra when you need him. This is screaming for a new Yogi quote because "It's like deja-vu all over again" doesn't seem to quite do this one justice. If history is a lesson, Favre wears Minnesota purple this year. And if anyone honestly thinks he wants to play for Green Bay's rival for any reason other than spite and wanting to "stick it to them," you're in la-la land.
Don't get me wrong though, Favre, Bus Cook, and Brad Childress galore will all say all the right things, that it's about winning a Super Bowl. And Favre just coincidentally thinks his old teams rival has the best shot...
