Brett Favre to The Vikings? A Match Made In Heaven
You just had the feeling that this was going to happen.
When Brett Favre "announced" his retirement in February right after the conclusion of the 2008 NFL season, the first thought of many fans and analysts alike was, "is this it?"
It turns out it isn't, as ESPN.com reported that Vikings coach Brad Childress was flying down to Hattiesburg, Miss. to meet with Favre, presumably about becoming the Vikings starting quarterback for the 2009 season.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Favre was thought to be a leading candidate for the Vikings job in 2008, but after his spat with Packers management, most notably GM Ted Thompson, the last thing the Packers wanted to do was face their future Hall of Fame quarterback twice a year, so Favre was shipped as far away from the NFC North as possible to the New York Jets.
Last year could be labelled as the tale of two Favres.
The "ol gun slinger" looked like the Favre circa 1995-97 (his MVP years) as he led the New York Jets to an 8-3 record with highlights including the six passing touchdown performance against the NFC champion Arizona Cardinals and wins over the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots.
However, Favre faltered down the stretch as the Jets lost four out of five, while Favre threw eight interceptions compared to two touchdowns.
After the season it was discovered that Favre played the second half of the year with a torn biceps tendon that reduced the gun slinger's arm to a mere water pistol.
Even though Favre sustained an injury toward the end of the year last year, the injury was said to be "minor" and could heal either with time or an arthroscopic procedure.
But with the recent developments with the Vikings, the question that is being asked is if Favre should actually come back for perhaps one final shot at his second Super Bowl?
The answer is yes.
The Vikings one weakness this past year was the inconsistent play at the quarterback position, and adding even a mediocre Favre would be an instant upgrade over Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels.
Last year Jackson and journeyman Gus Frerotte combined to throw for 3,213 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions, not bad considering Favre threw for 3,472 yards with 22 touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
Even though Favre's stats were similar to last year's Vikings quarterbacks, Favre would bring the respect of opposing defensive coordinator's that Jackson and Frerotte cannot bring.
Favre would take away the eight and nine man fronts used to stop Viking running back (and most dangerous player in the NFL) Adrian Peterson because of his ability to throw the ball down the field, something Jackson and Frerotte couldn't do.
Favre was able to get production last year out of Jerricho Cotchery and Laveranues Coles, just think what he'll be able to get with speedy Bernard Berrian and 2009 first round pick Percy Harvin.
This is could very well be Favre's last chance to win his second Super Bowl and with the talent the Vikings possess, both on offense and defense, it very well could become a reality.
By moving back to the NFC North Favre could also be a constant reminder to the Green and Gold that Aaron Rodgers is no Brett Favre.
