Oh Boy! It's Randy Foye!
In 2006, Randy Foye was traded for Brandon Roy no more than 20 minutes after the draft. While Brandon Roy has become a success leading his team to the postseason in his third year, Foye has become a future all-star. In the eyes of the ignorant, it would appear that the Minnesota Timberwolves got the bad end of the deal.
Nothing could be further from the truth, and this was proven in January with new coach Kevin McHale.
While completely healthy, and given over 30 minutes a game, Randy Foye averaged 20.2 points a game. This is the spark that arguably propelled the Timberwolves to a 10-4 record in the month of January. Al Jefferson helped, nightly getting his 20-10.
Randy Foye stirred up a lot of criticism amongst fans, as they claimed that he is too small to play the SG position. Having to face the likes of a Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade did not help his case.
However, Randy Foye's perimeter defense has increased to 26 blocks in 70 games. His previous high was 21 blocks in 82 games.
Randy Foye's steals have gone through the roof to 72 steals in 70 games. His previous high was 53 in 82 games.
His previous career high three point percentage was .368, hitting 68-185. Although his three point percentage went down last year by .08, he hit 111-308. Randy Foye in his rookie and sophomore year averaged 10.1 PPG and 13.1 PPG respectively. His scoring average has increased by at least 3 every year so far.
Randy Foye's average was 16.9 PPG at one point, until he was subjected to injury with hip and ankle problems, which limited his bursts to the basket.
January was such a huge month for him, as discussion of Most Improved Player stirred into a lot of fans' heads. Let's see if he can take his strong finish to this season and carry it over to next season.
Prediction: 19-20 PPG, 5 APG, 5 RPG, 2 SPG.
Get 'em Foye.
