Brett Should Return to the NFC

andy mungerMay 1, 2009

Brett Favre is again talking about returning and that is good for the NFL. I never thought it would be good for him to go out in failure and with the AFC. Brett is an NFC guy and given another chance out of the media spotlight of New York I think he will do good.

He still had a Pro Bowl year last year despite that bad final month of the season. Kurt Warner's success at his late age is an inspiration for Favre to return as he has only played in two Super Bowls in his career. It has been a long time since he has played in one and hopefully he gives it another try this time in the NFC North.

Brett Favre is a perfect fit for the Minnesota Vikings. They need a good quarterback to get the ball down field to star receiver Bernard Berrian. Add the best running back in the game in Adrian Peterson to the mix and this Viking team would be Super Bowl ready. Familiarity is important to Favre and older quarterbacks and he has played forever in the North.

It has been forever since the Minnesota Vikings were even in the Super Bowl so I can't see a more perfect union. He would also like to get back at the pack. Humiliating the Packers twice a year and showing them what a mistake they made going with Rogers is also a motivation for Favre.

I don't know if he will return, but the way the NFC is down it would be worth the gamble. It's obvious he hates to leave the game and being on a team which is better and has a stronger defense should be a wiser decision.

It is evident that if the Vikings want to step up they could do no worse with what is out there right now and the two quarterbacks that played last year. Besides a Pro Bowl quarterback should never retire especially how few great quarterbacks are in the league
