Belle Isle Grand Prix 2013: Start Time, Lineup, TV Schedule and More
This weekend’s Chevrolet Grand Prix Detroit Dual at Belle Isle Park is a chance for drivers to make—or break—their 2013 IndyCar season.
The two races, one on Saturday and then another on Sunday, will be worth the full amount of points. As a result, drivers get an immediate opportunity to make up some ground or to distance themselves from one another in the points standings.
Dario Franchitti won the pole for the first race during qualifying but will start in the 11th position due to a retroactive penalty from last week’s Indianapolis 500. Franchitti will receive the point bonus and monetary prize for winning the pole but will suffer the 10-grid spot penalty for an unapproved engine change at the Brickyard, according to Dave Lewandowski of IndyCar.com.
Here’s a complete overview of the race, including start times, track information and starting lineups.
When: Race One—Saturday, June 1 at 3:30 p.m. ET; Race Two—Sunday, June 2 at 3:30 p.m. ET

Drivers to Watch
Scott Dixon
Scott Dixon, last year’s pole-sitter and race-winner, didn’t just win the 2012 race. He started in first, led for all 60 of the race’s laps and won the race in dominant fashion.
Dixon, driver of the No. 9 Target Chip Gamassi Racing car, finished in 16th in qualifying and has his work cut out for him if he hopes to repeat his victory from last year.
He has also recorded fifth- and eighth-place finishes at Belle Isle Park in 2008 and 2007 respectively.
Dario Franchitti
Dario Franchitti won the pole during qualifying, but, as mentioned, will begin the race in the 11th-position due to a penalty enforced from Indianapolis.
The Scot has his work cut out for him if wants to improve upon his second-place finish at the track in 2012. He had a setback in Indianapolis last weekend, finishing the race in 22nd-place, two laps behind winne Tony Kanaan.
Franchitti previously finished well with a sixth-place result at the track in 2007.
Tony Kanaan
Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan is coming off of a career-defining victory at the Brickyard last weekend.
Historically, Kanaan has performed well in Detroit. He won the Belle Isle Park race in 2007 and recorded third- and sixth-place finishes there in 2008 and 2012 respectively.
Kanaan finished poorly during qualifying for the first race, securing the 20th spot on the grid of the race’s 26 participants.
