Brett Favre: Gun For Hire?
If he does play again, will it be in a dome or on grass?
Will he be throwing passes under the sun, or against gusts of wind and snow?
Will he be in a different shade of green, or jump boldly into purple?

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
There are plenty of questions surrounding the recent news of Brett Favre's release from the Jets. And they don't stop at what team he could play for.
While his dedication, motivation for a possible return, and health issues are all causes for concern or interest, it's still obvious that this remains a real possibility.
So, if this is legit, I might as well get the first crack on guessing where Favre decides to go. I agree that it's almost inevitable that it would be Minnesota if he did decide to return, but just for Jay Cutler's sake, let's speculate about other options.
After all, what's an NFL off-season without some good Brett Favre drama?
1. Minnesota Vikings
Despite the owner saying he wouldn't pursue Favre if he were available, I still think Favre playing in a dome is too interesting for fate to not allow it to happen.
Their quarterback situation is dire, and I don't care what anyone says, Favre is available, and the Vikings owner will pursue him.
Favre knows Darrell Bevell and Brad Childress well, and won't pass up two chances to beat Ted Thompson.
2. Washington Redskins
I know it's not about money for Favre anymore, so the real reason will be because the Redskins have the weapons to make a run for it now, with a solid enough defense to keep the team balanced.
If Jason Campbell is already uncomfortable, just wait until the legendary Favre's name comes up.
Ultimately, the Skins' will stick by Campbell for the rest of this season.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jon Gruden is gone, but Favre was rumored to be comfortable with Tampa Bay, had Green Bay allowed him to be traded there.
They have decent offensive weapons, but are in slight rebuilding mode. Favre doesn't want to duplicate last season.
4. Carolina Panthers
Carolina locked Delhomme up through 2014, but he's not so untouchable that Jon Fox wouldn't at least consider taking on Favre.
Favre is a country boy at heart, so he'd fit in just fine. The Panthers are another offense that has been in need of a truly elite quarterback, but is stuck in mediocrity. Favre wouldn't be too attracted.
5. San Francisco 49ers
They drafted Nate Davis and still have two other talented quarterbacks, but imagine how quickly their rebuilding process could move if they had a true leader behind center?
Unfortunately, Favre isn't in the stage of his career where he's used to being told what to do. He and Mike Singletary are far from an ideal fit.
6. Buffalo Bills
It sounds crazy, but when they see this opportunity, Favre to Owens begins to sound pretty nice.
It's beyond a long-shot, but how much confidence do they truly have in Trent Edwards?
7. Cleveland Browns
Favre knows and respects Eric Mangini, while number four probably wouldn't mind tossing deep balls to Braylon Edwards (that is, if he caught them).
The Browns wouldn't be opposed to quarterback changes either, considering all the trade rumors surrounding their top two quarterbacks.
Ultimately, Favre just doesn't fit Mangini's scheme, and they would clash.
8. Tennessee Titans
Kerry Collins is just as big of a risk at this point, so bringing Favre in would just be taking a risk on a talent upgrade, while giving their offense the passing threat it's been lacking.
If Favre is looking for his best shot at going out on top, playing for Tennessee could be quite enticing.
9. Houston Texans
Very unlikely, unless there was an early season or off-season injury to Matt Schaub. If that were to happen, the Texans would be hard-up for a dependable back-up.
The Texans offense and weapons would be tempting, but the Schaub factor makes it highly unlikely.
10. Denver Broncos
Would Favre be an upgrade over Kyle Orton or Chris Simms? Of course, so if Favre were interested, I doubt Josh McDaniels will be shy about the possibility. He sure wasn't when it came to Matt Cassel.
Favre would be walking into a situation where the philosophy is smart, the offensive system is solid, and he has tons of talent around him.
This could be a dark horse in the running, that is, unless McDaniels is completely sold on Orton.
11. Oakland Raiders
Al Davis is, and forever will be, the "wild card". As long as he is around and calling the shots, dangerous or risky moves will always be going down.
He signs Javon Walker and DeAngelo Hall to huge contracts, drafts Darrius Heyward-Bey, and for an encore, lures Brett Favre out of retirement.
Dear God, don't let it be true.
Still, no matter which side you were on last year, whether you love him or hate him, the reality is the game is better with him in it.
But really, the best part about this Favre news is that it's not the same story it was last season. There is no bitter divorce, here. The Jets and Favre separated on good terms, both sides get to see the kids, and neither were unfaithful to the other.
Favre has complete control over where he plays next season, that is, if he does come back.
He's a gun for hire. He's Clint Eastwood-the man with no name-except he is Brett Favre, quite possibly the most recognizable name in sports, and he loves football, attention, and a good, solid spite.
Whatever the reason, and whatever team-it doesn't matter. If it happens again, just be glad you were here to see it.
