Masters Odds 2013: Final Betting Lines for Golf's Most Notable Names

Seph AndersonApr 10, 2013

The 2013 Masters begins Thursday morning at Augusta National.

If you're the type of person that likes to "make things interesting" by laying down a few bucks on Masters futures, make sure you skim through this slide show before placing your final bets.

While there are favorable odds right now, there also are golfers to stay away from this week.

Let's take a look at the final betting lines on the world's top 10 golfers in the latest Official World Golf Rankings.

No. 10 Matt Kuchar

1 of 10

Odds to Win: 30/1

Buy or Sell: Buy

Matt Kuchar is a decent pick at 30/1. Beyond finishing the 2012 Masters in third place, Kuch has made cuts in five of his six appearances at Augusta National. He's one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour, and he's bound to capture a green jacket in the not-too-distant future.

He's already posted four top-15 finishes this year, including a win at the Accenture Match Play Championship.

No. 9 Phil Mickelson

2 of 10

Odds to Win: 10/1

Buy or Sell: Sell

Phil is simply not comfortable with his putter right now, and that alone spells trouble at the Masters.

If he were greater than a 10/1 favorite to win, which he isn't, Lefty wouldn't be a bad play this year. However, there's no telling what kind of performance Mickelson will have going with the fat grip this week.

As is Tiger, Phil will always be in the hunt at Augusta National.

However, he'll have his work cut out for him in 2013. Even at 10/1, he's a dicey pick to win.

No. 8 Steve Stricker

3 of 10

Odds to Win: 40/1

Buy or Sell: Buy

While Stricker is unpredictable at the Masters every year, at 40/1 he's worth the risk.

Despite finishing in a tie for 38th at the Shell Houston Open, he has top-five finishes in each of his other three events entered in 2013. Be wise and roll the dice on Stricker this week.

If he wins, the payday will be quite handsome.

No. 7 Adam Scott

4 of 10

Odds to Win: 25/1

Buy or Sell: Buy

Despite heartache at the British Open in 2012, Scott boasts top-15 finishes in each major last year. He's a golfer simply due a major championship soon. This season, he's put together two top-10 finishes in his three stroke-play events on the PGA Tour.

At 25/1 in Augusta, Scott has the potential for a solid return on your investment.

No. 6 Louis Oosthuizen

5 of 10

Odds to Win: 25/1

Buy or Sell: Sell

Which Louis Oosthuizen will show up at the 2013 Masters?

That's a great question. While he let one slip away to Bubba Watson last year, he hadn't even made the cut in his previous three Masters appearances. In four stroke-play events this season, he's missed the cut twice and notched only one top-10 finish.

Don't look for a repeat performance at Augusta this week. There are better bets to be made.

No. 5 Brandt Snedeker

6 of 10

Odds to Win: 30/1

Buy or Sell: Buy

Since 2008, Brant Snedeker has posted three top-20 finishes at Augusta National.

While he's missed his last two cuts on the PGA Tour, he does have four top-3 finishes this season. Having finished in a tie for third place at the Open Championship in 2012, Snedeker usually plays better than not in majors.

At 30/1, the youngster's a solid pick in the year's first major.

No. 4 Luke Donald

7 of 10

Odds to Win: 30/1

Buy or Sell: Buy

One of England's "Big Four," Luke Donald is another young gun due a major championship. He won't enter the Masters with as much attention as he has in years past (thanks to Tiger), so at 30/1 he's a solid pick on paper.

The Englishman has recorded three top-10 finishes in eight outings at Augusta National, and he should finish near the top in 2013.

This could be the year he breaks through at the Masters.

No. 3 Justin Rose

8 of 10

Odds to Win: 20/1

Buy or Sell: Buy

In the spirit of full disclosure, Justin Rose is the golfer I've picked to win the Masters this year. Sitting at 20/1 entering the tournament, how could I not like Rose to pay dividends?

In his Masters career, Rose is 7-for-7 in terms of cuts made. In particular, his most recent Masters appearances include finishes of No. 8 in 2012 and No. 11 in 2011.

To wrap up the 2012 majors season, he notched a No. 3 finish at the PGA Championship. He's one of the better picks for the money this week.

No. 2 Rory McIlroy

9 of 10

Odds to Win: 8/1

Buy or Sell: Sell

Rory is Rory, but he's probably the single-most unpredictable golfer in major championships.

While he won the PGA Championship in 2012, he finished in a tie for No. 40 at the Masters, tied for No. 60 at the Open Championship and missed the cut at the U.S. Open.

While McIlroy has notched two top-eight finishes in his last three events, he's simply too risky of a bet at 8/1.

No. 1 Tiger Woods

10 of 10

Odds to Win: 3/1

Buy or Sell: Sell

Yes, pass on Tiger Woods as a 3/1 favorite to win at Augusta National.

Tiger has won three events on the PGA Tour already this season, but he's accomplished the same feat entering previous Masters. Interestingly enough, not once has Woods won the Masters in one of those years.

Tiger could win by five or six shots at Augusta, just as well as he could finish outside the top 10 this week. While the four-time Masters champ is the heavy favorite, think twice about paying down a lot of cash at 3/1 odds.

There are much better options on the table.
