Mankok's Actions Beginnng To Speak Louder Than Words
The new regime of Eric Manigini and George Kokinis (Mankok) have definitely made some interesting and controversial moves this off-season.
First they trade Kellen Winslow and cut Joe Jurevicius. Then they sign some former Jets that were primarily backups.
Rumor is that Braylon Edwards will soon be a Giant.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
But the biggest decision Mankok has made is the decision to have an open competition at the quarterback position. That has clearly sparked controversy.
Many fans feel that they should commit to Quinn and proceed with him as the number one. So far they haven't done that, or have they?
The new Offensive Coordinator is Brian Dabol. The only thing that is known about him is that he worked with Charlie Weis. Therefore, he will be implementing an offense that is taylor-made for Quinn.
Jurevicius was clearly a guy who was better suited for Derrick Anderson because of his big play ability. Then they bring in David Patten who clearly was most productive in the New England offense. Patten is clearly more of a possession guy. That favors Quinn.
Robert Royal replaces Kellen Winslow and is clearly not the deep threat Winslow was. This one here I can understand the thinking, but Mankok should've taken a closer look at the chemistry of Quinn and Winslow.
Now with Edwards apparently on his way out, he is the last of the deep threats. All that will be left is the possession guys.
The other rumor is that they will be drafting Michael Crabtree. Now I am thinking about Michael Crabtree in college. His highlights did have some deep balls, but his most memorable are the ones where he caught a short pass in open space and made guys miss. Plus, he can catch in traffic.
DA clearly is a gun slinger and will not work with the receivers left. Brady however could thrive with them.
Also, look at all the trade rumors surrounding both guys. Quinn almost went to Denver but Mankok pulled out because Jay Cutler didn't like Mangini. The latest I hear is that they have turned down first round draft picks for Quinn.
A first rounder for Quinn to me sounds like a fair trade. That really sounds as though they aren't enamoured with him as reports indicate. HMMM!
HECK! I bet Tampa Bay was interested after Winslow went to bat for him. They ended up with Byron Leftwich but do you really think that was their first choice. It is probably another trade that was turned down.
So why wouldn't they publicly reveal their intentions? I can think of a few reasons.
First, Quinn has already achieved a status in Cleveland that he really hasn't earned. Why would you hand him the job? They want him to go out there and take it. In the end Brady will appreciate it more.
Second, they are trying to get teams interested in DA. Therefore, tell the league that he has a chance to be the starter and hopefully somebody takes the bait.
Now this whole article is all speculation based on observation. One thing is for sure, there are definitely mind games and smokescreens being used. I think after the draft, we will have a better understanding of what Mankok's true intentions really are.
After all, if they aren't committed to Quinn, why has every offseason move favored him and why haven't they pulled the trigger on any trade offers?
