EPL Week 30 Predictions: Players Sure to Land in All-EPL Team for Week's Clash

Ben ChodosJun 8, 2018

The FA Cup and Champions League have stolen some attention away from the the English Premier League over this past week, but a full slate of games and several incredible individual performances will change that.

Manchester United will look to continue building their comfortable lead atop the table against Reading, and there is likely to be little drama in the race for this year's title. However, the relegation race is shaping up to be extremely interesting.

The threat of dropping to the Championship is always a powerful motivating factor, and the teams at the bottom will start surging.

Here are the players who will put their teams in position to earn points this weekend.

Goalkeeper: Ali Al-Habsi, Wigan

1 of 11

Ali Al-Habsi is a frustrating goalkeeper to watch. He is capable of dominant performances and incredible saves, but can also hurt his side with inexplicable lapses.

In Wigan's last Premier League matchup, he was thoroughly unimpressive and the team lost 4-0 to Liverpool. Roberto Martinez then sat the Oman international for an FA Cup matchup with Everton.

But the Latics routed the Toffees 3-0, signaling that the team is ready for yet another late-season surge to survive the chopping block.

Wigan will need its starting keeper to play well in order to avoid relegation, and his run of good form will start this weekend as he makes life extremely difficult for Newcastle's attack.

Left-Back: Ashley Cole, Chelsea

2 of 11

It has not been Ashley Cole's best season, but Chelsea will need their veteran players to step up for the remainder of the team's Premier League campaign.

The Blues have been inconsistent this season, and Arsenal is currently lurking five points back in fifth place.

A second straight finish outside the top four would be a massive failure in Roman Abramovich's eyes. It will be up to the club's elder statesmen such as Cole, Frank Lampard and John Terry to ensure that the team plays up to its potential the rest of the way.

This will start this weekend, and Cole will lead by example with an excellent performance against West Ham United.

Centre-Back: Daniel Agger, Liverpool

3 of 11

Daniel Agger has maintained his reputation as a world-class centre-back with another fine campaign for the Liverpool.

The Reds have momentum working in their favor after beating an in-form Tottenham side 3-2 last week and will now look to continue winning against Southampton.

With Luis Suarez scoring at an incredible rate, Brendan Rodgers can feel comfortable that his team will score goals against a subpar Saints defense. But he will be counting on Agger to ensure that Southampton's talented attackers are stonewalled.

The 28-year-old will deliver and Liverpool will continue working towards a surprisingly impressive finish in their Premier League campaign.

Centre-Back: Kolo Toure, Manchester City

4 of 11

Losing Vincent Kompany to a calf injury was certainly cause for Manchester City fans to be nervous, but Kolo Toure has allowed the supporters to rest easy in recent matches.

The veteran centre-back has proved to be a quality understudy for his skipper in, and City still has allowed the fewest goals of any team in the Premier League.

He will be expected to continue playing at a high level this weekend against an Everton team capable of producing goals in a variety of different ways.

However, the Toffees will likely be shell shocked from their 3-0 defeat to Wigan in the FA Cup, and Toure will once again help his side turn in an impressive defensive performance.

Right-Back: Rafael, Manchester United

5 of 11

The last Premier League meeting between Reading and Manchester United was a disaster for Rafael, but a significant amount of time has passed since that December fixture.

In that contest, Jobi McAnuff ran circles around the young Brazilian, and Sir Alex Ferguson was forced to take him off after just 31 minutes. The game ended in a 4-3 victory for United, with all seven goals coming in the first half.

But now, Rafael has had a run of impressive matches and is quickly establishing himself as one of the best right-backs in England. In addition, the Royals recently fired manager Brian McDermott.

Sacking a manger the week before playing the league leaders is not a recipe for success. United will dominate this fixture, and Rafael—who will still have a chip on his shoulder—will be one of the most impressive players on the pitch.

Left Midfielder: Santi Cazolra, Arsenal

6 of 11

Arsenal has had an impressive amount of success playing Santi Cazorla on the left wing instead of in the center, and Arsene Wenger is likely to continue this strategy against Swansea City this weekend.

Bayern Munich knocked the Gunners out of the Champions League on Wednesday, but the Germans survived a scare. Arsenal won the second leg of the matchup 2-0, and one more goal would have capped off an incredible comeback after losing the first leg 3-1.

Cazorla assisted on the second goal, and this positive performance will be enough to spark the Gunners.

Wenger's side will need to take full points from most of its league matches in order to move into fourth place, and the club's best player will ensure that it comes away with a victory in its next fixture.

Central Midfielder: Shinji Kagawa, Manchester United

7 of 11

Shinji Kagawa is finally getting a chance to show his quality, and he will continue to impress against a struggling Reading side this weekend.

The Japanese star failed to create many headlines early in the season, but reminded the Premier League how dangerous he can be with a hat trick against Norwich two weekends ago.

Sir Alex Ferguson will allow the young midfielder another chance to prove to display his creativity and goal-scoring ability against the Royals, and Kagawa will not disappoint his manager.

Expect to see more classy finishes from Kagawa this weekend.

Central Midfielder: Mousa Dembele, Tottenham

8 of 11

There is no shortage of intriguing storylines for Tottenham's matchup with Fulham.

Spurs will be looking to bounce back after its 12-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League was broken against Liverpool. This will also be a London derby and a homecoming for former Cottagers Mousa Dembele and Clint Dempsey.

It is always an emotional occasion when a player faces his old team, but Dembele will not let this affect his form. He will continue his fine season with another fantastic performance.

The savvy midfielder will make more piercing runs forward and torment his former teammates throughout the match.

Right Midfielder: Andreas Weimann, Aston Villa

9 of 11

There is a renewed sense of optimism at Aston Villa after the team's 2-1 win over Reading last weekend pushed the team three points clear of the relegation zone.

Now, Paul Lambert will look to his promising young players to ensure that the team continues creating space between itself and the bottom three.

While striker Christian Benteke has drawn plenty of attention this season, Andreas Weimann has also impressed on the right wing.

A loss to Queens Park Ranger would erase all the good will the Lions built during their recent result, and Weimann will ensure that does not happen at Villa Park this weekend.

Striker: Luis Suarez, Liverpool

10 of 11

Luis Suarez draws a range of opinions from fans, but it is a fact that he is currently the Premier League's best goal scorer.

With 22 goals, he is leading the Premiership and has definitely proved that he is one of the world's premier strikers.

He is both clever and deadly in the penalty box. If Southampton's back-line loses concentration for a single moment, Suarez will punish their indiscretion.

Unfortunately for the Saints, their defenders have been all too prone to lapses in focus this season, and this matchup will allow the Uruguayan to produce more fireworks.

Striker: Romelu Lukaku, West Bromwich Albion

11 of 11

Chelsea fans are surely enjoying watching Romelu Lukaku's growth this season and will be looking forward to his return to Stamford Bridge at the end of his loan.

But until then, he belongs to West Bromwich Albion, and the Baggies will be trying to earn every point possible with the star striker in the lineup.

The big Belgium will be needed this weekend as West Brom heads to Britannia Stadium to face a Stoke City defense that does not allow goals easily at home.

But a Europa League berth is still within reach for Steve Clarke's side, and a victory would be an important result in this match. Lukaku will deliver another excellent performance while helping his team to three points.
