20 Teams with a Great Sense of Humor
Between nonstop media coverage and the popularity of Twitter and Instagram, fans get a chance to see the true personalities of their favorite athletes.
More interesting than just an athlete entertaining on the field of play, though, is when they inspire their entire teams to show their humorous sides.
That's why we're listing the funniest teams we've come across. So while they may not all have won big, hopefully they made you laugh.
20. Los Angeles Lakers
1 of 20Maybe it's the Hollywood drama that attracts us to the Lake Show, but because of so many different personalities on the current squad, we find them pretty amusing.
Does it get old? Sure.
But hearing Kobe's responses in postgame interviews—along with those of the always-entertaining Dwight Howard, Metta World Peace and Steve Nash—makes this team a must watch.
19. Cleveland Indians
2 of 20As of right now, we're putting the Tribe on here out of pure speculation for the upcoming season—and so far they're living up to the expectations.
With the additions of regular funny guys Brett Myers and Nick Swisher, along with the hiring of laid-back manager Terry Francona, we're expecting some big things in the knee-slapping department from this team.
18. 2012 USA Olympic Swimming Team
3 of 20Sure, we all got kind of sick of Carly Rae Jepsen at some point last year, but the U.S. swim team knew making a parody video would be gold!
Featuring both Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, among others, these pool sharks showed their dance moves in and out of the pool.
17. Green Bay Packers
4 of 20Thanks to former MVP Aaron Rodgers' antics during pregame intros, the entire team has caught on to the whole photobombing scheme.
Just look at All-Pro linebacker Clay Matthews III, who took things to a new level during the QB's interview on live TV during a game.
We have a feeling this had fans hitting rewind on their DVRs over and over.
16. Dallas Mavericks
5 of 20Whether you like the lumberjack look or not, the '13 version of the Mavs make us laugh because they're buying into the longtime superstition of growing the whiskers for good luck until the team reaches .500.
It may not quite be growing a 'stache, but we find it pretty funny for the team to build unity through their nappy facial hair.
Plus, they did the whole Super Marion thing that brought us back to our youth.
15. 2011 Boston Bruins
6 of 20Like most teams who win a title, it's probably pretty fun to celebrate and go wild, but the Bruins took it to a whole new level in 2011 after capturing the Stanley Cup.
With young guns Tyler Seguin, Brad Marchand and Milan Lucic getting rowdy in a number of bars across the country, it's funny to see how millionaire athletes aren't too different from us after all.
14. Oklahoma City Thunder
7 of 20With young stars like Kevin Durant and Russ Westbrook, it's not shocking that the players on the team relate to a younger generation with their play and commercials.
As humorous as the team is now, they may have been even funnier when James Harden was part of the crew last year.
Look for the Thunder to rise up the charts as long as they continue winning.
13. Kansas Jayhawks Men's Basketball
8 of 20With the Jayhawks in the national title discussion, Rock Chalk took a break from the seriousness of the soon-to-be madness by filming this "Harlem Shake" video.
Props to head coach Bill Self for remembering that even though this is the "worst team Kansas has ever put on the floor," they're still college kids who like to have fun.
12. Kentucky Wildcats Men's Basketball
9 of 20Though Coach Cal seems to be serious all the time, often bashing his team through the media to get their attention, the team took a break from its normal routine and loosened up by playing dodgeball a day before a game against Vanderbilt.
It worked, as the Cats won the next day.
Who knew a playground game could be so effective—and entertaining for us fans to see, too?
11. Minnesota Timberwolves
10 of 20Though the team itself doesn't ever make an appearance, the fact that their mascot "Crunch" takes a mongo bat to the chest of a perceived Heat fan in response to the Heat's "Harlem Shake" video is hilarious.
The Wolves may not be able to beat Miami on the court, but that doesn't mean they can't beat them up off it—well, sort of.
10. 1992 Dream Team
11 of 20Arguably the greatest team ever assembled, the original "Dream Team" featured not only the greatest basketball player of the '90s, Michael Jordan, but two guys who dominated the sport throughout the '80s too, with Magic Johnson and Larry Bird wearing the red, white and blue.
When you were as loaded with talent as this squad was, the games became so secondary that they just seemed to hang out and have fun with each other.
Pranks and whole-hearted fun with each other was common for these gold medalists.
9. San Francisco Giants
12 of 20Most baseball teams are pretty quirky, thanks to the marathon-long season that forces players to stay loose. But the Giants seem to be a little more-so than the typical team.
Take the playoffs last year, when the team found themselves in a 2-0 series hole to the Cincinnati Reds and needed something to spark them.
Midseason acquisition Hunter Pence stepped to the plate, motivated the team and had his teammates impersonating him in front of the entire clubhouse to help ease everyone's nerves.
8. Seattle Seahawks
13 of 20One of the biggest cliches in sports is a team taking on the identity of their head coach, and in the Seahawks' case, it couldn't be more true.
With Pete Carroll being one of the biggest pranksters in all of sports, the rest of the team follows suit, thanks to tweets by Richard Sherman and video blogs by Michael Robinson.
7. 2004 Boston Red Sox
14 of 20The self-titled "bunch of idiots" earn a spot here because of the way they found themselves when it mattered most—down 3-0 to the rivaled Yanks in the American League Championship Series.
Of course, the Sox proved to be even bigger partiers, when they won eight-straight games to win their first World Series title since 1918, breaking the "Curse of the Bambino."
6. Los Angeles Clippers
15 of 20It seems like this team just outdoes itself each night it steps on the court, doesn't it?
Not only did they give themselves the nickname of "Lob City" last year after acquiring Chris Paul, but the Clippers play a brand of basketball that makes everyone in the arena have fun.
5. Harlem Globetrotters
16 of 20This team was made for fun, so it's a pretty obvious choice to add here.
From their insane ball-handling skills to the crazy shots they make and then, of course, that winning streak they had, the Globetrotters are funny because they're the original And1 mixtape, giving us things never before seen on a court.
4. Denver Nuggets
17 of 20One name—JaVale McGee.
Though the big man has had some jaw-droppers, he routinely shows up on blooper videos thanks to some of his boneheaded decisions.
George Karl's squad is definitely entertaining on the court, but they've got some memorable funny moments, too.
3. The Golf Boys
18 of 20Okay, so technically these four pro golfers aren't really a team. But in the same sense your group of friends are your crew, we had to give a shout-out to the fearsome foursome.
After killing it back in 2011 with the video, "Oh, Oh, Oh," they've outdone themselves with their newest one released earlier this year. Sports fans can't help but laugh at these golf-cart comedians.
2. 1985 Chicago Bears
19 of 20With a quarterback who wore sunglasses regardless of the time of day and a guy nicknamed "The Fridge" on the defensive line, the '85 Bears defined the word entertaining.
And if there was any doubt as to why this team was funny, must we remind you they created the "Super Bowl Shuffle"?
That should be enough validation right there.
1. Miami Heat
20 of 20It's tough to admit, but let's face it, when a team is winning, they tend to have more fun.
With the always young at heart LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh leading them, the Heat are by far the most entertaining team going.
