Leftwich to Compete for Starting Job After Signing With Tampa Bay
As a backup for Ben Roethlisberger last season in Pittsburgh, quarterback Byron Leftwich was fortunate enough to share the experience of winning Super Bowl XLIII with the Steelers.
Now, he looks to win another Super Bowl with a different team as a starting quarterback.
Leftwich is returning to the state of Florida to play football again. Only this time, he will be playing for Tampa Bay instead of Jacksonville.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
According to CBSSports.com Leftwich has agreed to a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He will have the chance to compete with Luke McCown, Brian Griese, and Josh Johnson for the starting quarterback position.
Leftwich has had an interesting last couple of seasons in the NFL. After spending his first of four years in the league with Jacksonville, The Jaguars released him before the start of the 2007 season after head coach Jack Del Rio named David Gerrard the starting quarterback. He played three games for the Atlanta Falcons in 2007 before Pittsburgh signed him following an injury to backup quarterback Charlie Batch.
Leftwich joins a Tampa Bay organization that has made a number of acquisitions this offseason. Alongside new head coach Raheem Morris, the Bucs traded a second round and a fifth round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns for tight end Kellen Winslow.
In six seasons, Leftwich has played in 54 games. He has thrown for 9,624 yards and 54 touchdowns. He also has an 80.3 career quarterback rating.
