Wide Receivers

5 of 10

Yards after the catch are what really makes a receiver elite. Prospects with that extra gear are very appealing because of their ability to stretch the defense.

Also, per NFL.com before the combine began:

"

Keenan Allen will not work out at the NFL Scouting Combine this week, his agent told NFL Network on Wednesday.

J.T. Johnson, who represents the Cal wide receiver, said Allen will be re-evaluated by Dr. James Andrews for a second-grade posterior cruciate ligament sprain suffered during the season.

Tight Ends

6 of 10

Courtesy of guys like Rob Gronkowski, Vernon Davis and Jimmy Graham, the tight end position has gained much more notoriety in the passing game. The more marketable ends will sport solid 40 times.

Defensive Line

8 of 10

The 40-yard dash is a great way to help evaluate defensive linemen. The best linemen save tackles downfield from the backside.

In addition, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com on Sunday:

"

Star Lotulelei, one of the elite prospects for the 2013 NFL draft, will not be allowed to work out Monday at the scouting combine after an echocardiogram revealed that the former Utah defensive tackle has a heart condition that requires more testing, according to league sources.

Specialists

Though not incredibly important for kickers and punters, being fast could lead to a touchdown-saving tackle or a successful fake punt/field goal.
