Time to Move Ocho Cinco
Adding to Zane's post above of Chad losing $250,000 for sitting at home:
This story comes amid a flurry of rumors and trade scenarios being speculated all over the interwebs. Zane previously posted one possibility of Chad being traded to Oakland for Michael Bush and a draft pick. Of course everyone is speculating that the Giants are looking for a replacement for Plaxico Burress after his release. The Titans also brought in Torry Holt for a visit, indicating they are interested in available veteran pass catchers. Chad has also said that he would love to play for the Dolphins because of their proximity to his home.
Should any trade arise that would give the Bengals at least a second round draft pick and a quality veteran or another high draft pick, they should pull the trigger, in my opinion.
Chad's act is a tired one. He says one thing, does another. He holds out most of last offseason then shows up, apologizes and says it won't happen again. He says he will be at every workout this year, then stays at home. Let some other franchise, city and fans deal with his flip-flopping antics.
The truth is the Bengals don't need Ocho Cinco to be successful. They have a proven wide receiver in Coles and have a stable of young, albeit unproven, talent to fill the other wide out spots. Now is the time to grant Chad his wish and ship him out of town. Of course it's a year late since the Bengals could have gotten a first rounder and a conditional third, second or first-rounder from the Redskins last year, but Mike Brown might as well trade him before Chad looses any more value.
Also, getting another high pick in the draft really loosens up the first round for the Bengals. I've ranted enough about the Bengals needing an offensive tackle but if an impact player is available at the sixth spot, or an opportunity to trade down is there, Mike Brown should take it and comfortably address the offensive line need with his next pick. Having that extra second rounder gives the Bengals some mobility, security and ammunition to take the best player available or be in position to move up or down for a player they value.
So I say to Chad, keep doing what you're doing. You've proven to the fans of Cincinnati that we can never trust a word you spew. You're departure would be doing the team a huge favor by removing the hemorrhoid of the locker room and providing another high draft pick.
