S.M.'s Camping World Update, Issue No. 34
Rumors
Fox Sports in a article by Lee Spence, mention that NASCAR is putting out feelers for a replacement for Camping World in the truck series, but I'm thinking they are referring to the Camping World East & West Series.
Since after the 2009 season, Camping World will no longer be the title sponsor for the developmental series.
Billy Ballew a owner in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series had his DUI charges dismissed by Henry County, Georgia.
The charge was administratively dismissed, after a independent investigation. The incident occurred March 4, on the grounds of Atlanta Motor Speedway and were Ballew owes a condo.
Brian Scott hopes to be running a limited number of Nationwide Series races starting with the Nashville race. Expect an announcement shortly as to the team, the deal has not been totally completed yet.
But Scott feels confident it's a done deal. I'm thinking the team is Trail Motorsports and be nice to see him run some Nationwide races.
BNB Racing is a new team in the truck series, they'll make their debut at Memphis Motorsports Park.
The New Jersey based team will run four races in 2009, with driver Paul Bamburak in the No. 34 Chevrolet and with crew chief Steve Herbert.
Timothy Peters and Premier Racing have announced that Strutmaster.com has signed on as sponsor for two additional races.
Peters will be racing at Kansas and Charlotte, which is very cool and gives these guys more time to land a sponsor or sponsors for more races.
I am putting the finishing touches on a article about Timothy Peters and Premier and their amazing story. It actually delayed my Update, along with the fact the race was on Monday.
Trail Motorsports and Chase Austin should be back racing with the No. 32 at Kansas on April 25.
Add Terry Cook and HT Motosports No. 25 Toyota too the list of teams that need sponsors to keep racing every race in 2009.
So far Todd Bodine with Germain Racing, have reached a race to race stats. Both Johnny Benson and T.J. Bell with Red Horse Racing are close to also being race to race.

Nine teams that previously were not locked into the first four races are now locked into races starting with Kansas.
The truck series races field 36 trucks of which 30 drivers are locked into the races and to qualify for that stats you need to run every truck race.
Only 28 teams have fielded trucks in each of the first four races of the 2009 season and here's the nine teams that are now locked into the races now.
HT Motorsports No. 25 with Terry Cook.

Premier Racing No. 17 with Timothy Peters.

Hornaday's Corner
Hornaday at Martinsville recorded a career best second place finish on Monday.
Horn lead for 15 laps, recorded his second top five finish of 2009 and now sits third in the points 71 behind points leader kyle Busch.
It was the first one-two finish for KHI of the season and the third career one for the team.
"We got a little behind there, when [crew chief Rick] Ren brought me down for tires and no one else comes to pit road. It all worked out in the end. Our truck rolled through the center (of the corners) better than anyone's. I'm proud of this team," Hornaday said after the race.
The interesting thing with the finish of the Kroger 250 was. That Happy post race was confident that had the race finished with a green-white-checkers without the caution on the white flag lap that Horn wouldn't have messed with him.
But post race Horn did comment how with one more lap, he might have moved the boss out of the way for the win.
I'm betting he would have done it too or at least cause the Boss to make a mistake being worried. Since we know how bad he wants a grandfather clock for his trophy room.
No doubt that would have been a great finish had it stayed green.

The Rookie Chase
At Martinsville, James Buescher was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race for the Kroger 250 with a 11th place finish.
Buescher ran a really great race, the testing at "Little Rockingham" really helped him.
The middle part of the race, he worked his way to second, even battled Kyle Busch for the lead. But his truck would get tight, dropping him back through the field.
His pit crew did a great job on pit road servicing the truck and made on mistakes.
No doubt in the late stages of the race, Buescher probably would have finished top 10 if it wasn't for a tight condition with his truck.
It definitely was a race for Buescher to build off of and he learned the importance of staying out of trouble.
Rookie Notes on the rest: Tayler Malsam had a good race finishing 14th and ran well.
J.R. Fitzpatrick had another fast truck, but got caught up in someone else's mess and end up a lap down in 21st.
Johnny Sauter had a mechanical issue, with a oil line coming loose, he did have a fast truck but ended up being seven laps down.
Both Brent Raymer and Ricky Carmichael were involved in multiple accidents.
The Raybestos Rookie of the Year Standing's after Martinsville are:
J.R. Fitzpatrick 42
Tayler Malsam 38
James Buescher 38
Ricky Carmichael 37
Johnny Sauter 32
Chase Austin 16
Brent Raymer 12
Chris Jones 5
The Scott Minute
B/R's Brian Scott and the No. 16 Albertson Toyota Team used smart pit strategy and played the survival game at Martinsville to post a eighth place finish.
He ran an excellent race, stayed out of trouble and his pit crew was on their game on his two pit stops.
Scott played the fuel mileage game during cautions, he shutoff the 16 truck and saved 30 laps of fuel to make it to the finish.
Scott recorded his second top 10 finish of 2009. He's now 12th in the point standings, sits seven points out of the top 10 and 72 points out of the top five.
