Denver Broncos Acquire Quarterback with Winning Record
Poor Kyle Orton.
Started four bowl games in college.
10-4 in 2005 and replaced in the playoffs for Rex Grossman. Did Orton demand a trade? Nope.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
2-1 in 2006. A 10-4 Quarterback was dropped to third string. Did Orton demand a trade? Nope.
Didn't play behind Rex Grossman in 2007. Did Orton demand a trade ? Nope.
9-7 in 2008.
Orton's wide receivers were never special. No one from those Purdue years is tearing up the NFL.
Chicago's wide receivers were never special either.
Shipped away for Jay Cutler. Cutler has had pro bowl seasons. Cutler hasn't had a winning record since high school.
Jay Cutler's wide receivers in were Brandon Marshall, who has 206 receptions in two seasons as a starter and stands in at an impressive 6'4" and 230lbs. He had a TE in Tony Sheffler who had amassed over 100 receptions in two years. He had Eddie Royal and Brandon Stokely.
He had a running game.
He had an offensive coach.
Now Kyle Orton has all that.
The first time Jay Cutler met a challenge, whether that challenge was winning over a coach, fighting off Chris Simms or the prospect of playing part of the year without Brandon Marshall he simply asked to leave.
That's not leadership.
Orton will step off the plane in Denver. He'll probably show up with a scruffy neck beard. He'll compete for a position with Chris Simms and others. He may not start.
When he does he'll win.
That is leadership.
That's the bottom line isn't it?
Isn't the role of the Quarterback to LEAD. It could come in an offense that asks you to throw 30 times a game. It could come in an offense that asks him to hand off constantly, like Ben Roethlisberger's first Super Bowl year in Pittsburgh.
Then why would you include two first round draft picks and a winning Quarterback for a Quarterback that hasn't won since high school.
Why would you trade a winning Quarterback and two first round picks for a Quarterback who hasn't performed the most important role of a Quarterback, leading?
There is blame to go around in Denver. Injuries. A bad defense.
I never heard Kyle Orton shift the blame.
I'll be rooting for Orton.
I'll be watching holes develop in the Bears offensive line. Holes they can't fill through the draft. I'll be watching to see where the blame goes.
I'll be watching to see what Jay Cutler does when faced with the challenge of playing for a team with a weak offensive line and no receivers.
Where will Jay goes next. Does he opt out at the next challenge, too?
Hopefully, Cutler can become Kyle Orton in Chicago.
The Bears gave up a lot in hopes he'd grow up at least that much.
