Denver or Chicago: Which Side Do You Take?
There have been millions upon millions of Jay Cutler articles on the Interweb. But this one is a little bit different.
Jay Cutler, either way you look at it, is an excellent quarterback. Proof of it shows as he has put up sensational stats in the past few seasons, visited Hawaii, and well compared himself to John Elway. As you can see, Jay Cutler isn't your average quarterback. He in fact may be one of the best in the league.
Jay Cutler threw for 4,500 yards last season. That's a hefty number only seen eight times since 2000. Jay Cutler was the youngest to achieve that mark at the age of 25.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
So in March, rumors swirled early that Josh McDaniels wanted to trade their star quarterback for Matt Cassel in a three-way-trade.
When the trade hit the toilet, Jay Cutler ends up feeling bad for himself. He is the star of a Broncos team, lead by a new guy who already wants to get rid of him for his guy. Either way you look at it, that is not the way to start a new job.
You don't go to your brand new job, shine up your desk, and tell the guy who has been in town for three years sitting next to you in your office, "Hey, I'm thinking about getting rid of you even though I personally haven't seen what you can do yet."
Not to add on the part "Yeah, I think I'm gonna do with this guy where I'm from, I personally like him, and I know he is good."
Love or Hate Jay Cutler, he didn't take this news very well, and to be honest, business move or not, Josh McDaniels ruined the situation. After all was said and done and his homeboy Matt Cassel ended up in Kansas City, only then was it he went public on national television saying, "Jay Cutler is my quarterback."
Pretty much to Jay saying, "Yeah, my boy got a new job, so I guess you can stay here for now."
No, I don't side on how Jay acted. But, I definitely don't side on how Josh McDaniels acted. Since becoming a Denver Bronco he has taken a team a few steps down to accidentally dropping them down the stairs.
Every story has two sides to it. Side two of this story, Chicago.
Chicago has gone through every quarterback in the books since 1997. It's kind of like a game.
Let's name them: Erik Kramer, Rick Mirer, Steve Stenstrom, Moses Moreno, Shane Matthews, Cade McNown, Jim Miller, Chris Chandler, Henry Burris, Kordell Stewart, Chad Hutchinson, Jonathan Quinn, Craig Krenzel, Brian Griese, Rex Grossman, and Kyle Orton.
To sum it up, Chicago has put every single washed up quarterback, or quarterback that has never had full potential and let them be the star of the city.
I believe in a right act of justice, Chicago has finally gave up the rights to their 2009 and 2010 washed up players to Denver for the man who may lead their team to the Super Bowl, Jay Cutler.
Note I said may lead, and Super Bowl. That could mean, he could decide to not call his Chicago coaches back after weeks after the team insults him. Or the Super Bowl, meaning he leads the team to the stinkers which is still possible.
Let's face the facts. Chicago has been a team of mediocrity for the past ten seasons. Straight honest, I still don't know how they made the Super Bowl in 2006. I still don't know why Rex Grossman is the man who leads the team to the Super Bowl but the next season has to sit the bench.
I don't even know why Chicago was willing to give up so many draft picks to get Jay Cutler, But in this wacky and crazy world of football where players can retire and unretire and end up in any city they wish, what a better way to start off the 2009-2010 season than have a player traded to a city that truly lives and breathes NFL Football.
Now, to finish this article, I in no way shape or form consider Jay Cutler a franchise quarterback yet in my books. He was a big piece of a big picture in the Denver franchise. Chicago now gains that piece, and he could be the next Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.
Or he could be the next Craig Krenzel or Cade McNown.
We honestly won't know who got the better end of this deal until 2010, or maybe even 2020. All we do know is there is a big spill at Mile High Stadium in Denver, and it needs cleaned up, fast.
